1693 Scholars?

I was wondering if anyone heard back yet about being a potential 1693 Scholar. I just got my acceptance (which I'm thrilled about) and was named a Monroe Scholar, but I doubt I would be able to afford the school unless I was chosen as a 1693 Scholar. Thanks, all!

Rec’d same. No word on 1693 Scholar.

I haven’t heard anything past the initial nomination and sending in the essay. Hopefully they’ll notify us if we didn’t reach the next round (some scholarships don’t, and it sucks).

You heard about the initial nomination already? I didn’t hear anything yet.

Yes, the e-mail was sent Feb. 17.

rec’d nomination also, submitted essay, haven’t heard back since.

All 1693 semifinalists were sent an email in mid-February. If you haven’t received that email it means you were not selected as a semifinalist. There were only 60 semifinalists out of over 14,000 applications. Be proud of being a Monroe. It’s also a great honor and very selective.

All semifinalists should hear back from us whether or not they move forward in the process. Remember, there are only about 20 finalists and 4 award recipients so it’s highly selective.

@mediocrity, did you apply for financial aid? That can also be helpful as you consider whether or not W&M is an option.

I’m a finalist! Is anyone out there in the CC world going to the interview weekend?

Unfortunately, I didn’t receive any aid based off of our EFC. Oh well. Best of luck to all of the people joining the class of 2017!

I’m an alternate, but I still have hope that one of the finalists will get into somewhere on Ivy Day and give up his or her spot!

@baddriver sorry to resurrect this thread after so long but I’m an alternate this year and was wondering if space opened up for you. I’d love to be a part of the tribe and and this scholarship would really help me make that happen
