1740: good for an 8th grader?

Math: 600
Writing: 600
CR: 540

CR and Math I misbubbled..I would have gotten higher. ;_;
Anyways, is this good for my age?

That is very good. Just try to bring up that CR. Math will come through HS.

i got 20 points lower when i took the test for CTY in 7thgrade. yah thats pretty good i guess (considering some people around me got 1200s/1600 o_O)

math will come, so don't worry about that. i got a 560 in 7th grade and i ended up with a 790 in 11th. Writing comes with practice...it just involves studying grammar. no point wasting your time studying when you're this young :) You're really lucky to be where you are in terms of CR. You have a few years to READ, READ, and READ SOME MORE. just read anything, news magazines and newspapers especially. you learn so much that way. good luck!

get a life

Yes it is good. I took it in 8th grade for CTY and got an 800/1600. I just got my scores yesterday as a junior and they were a 2270.

Btw...don't hang around on CC too much...it makes you green and you end up growing devil horns, telling people that something in the 75 percentile sucks :)

but when real life comes...

to emory1r: lol you're telling me to get a life when you're on here posting that in like 5 topics when you could be outside (yes there is a place called OUTSIDE, its not fiction).

to walshkc416: huh?

It's excellent. Among the kids who take the test for CTY (who are already in the top 10% of standardized testing) the average score this year for middle schoolers was high 400s or low 500s. I'm too lazy to look at the booklet they sent me. BTW my son's scores went up 200 points cobine for math and verbal (more for verbal than math in his case). There was no writing back when he was in 8th grade, but I'd guess the change is likely to be more dramatic.

Thanks mathmom. What'd your son get?
Also any tips on imrpoving my CR? I'm thinking of:
1. Memorize as many vocab words as you can.
2. As jimbob said, read books that'll challenge me
3. Do the exercises in the Blue Book.

Anything else?

I think I'm screwed..

Math:760
Writing:700
CR: 490.. Lol.. ***??

I'm an 8th grader..

what the asdhjskahgsahgsa.... 490.. wow im totally screwed

"to walshkc416: huh?"

He was replying to Peugeot said about the 75 percentile being bad b/c in real life the 75 percentile doesn't do much

^10 essay.. forgot to add that

...

8th graders worrying about SAT scores? In 8th grade, the only thing I worried about was beating Mario 64...

hahaha shooooooooot

get a life freaks!

My older son's 7th and 8th grade SAT scores were identical 680M/670V.
He got 750M/800CR/690W this May as a junior.

I think his high verbal scores are due entirely to the fact that he reads all the time. Mostly sci-fi and fantasy - but at least a book a week. You'll learn more vocabulary that way than trying to memorize them IMO. In school he's much stronger in math than at English or Social Studies, but the reading has made a huge difference in his scores.

My younger son BTW whose in 8th grade got a 490 on the writing and low to mid 500s on the other pieces - so I'm impressed with your writing ability!

eh.. i gotta read more..
im working on "the good earth" right now..

laughs Those look good, keep working :)

8th grade:
Math: 720
CR: 510

:) Now it's MUCH higher
