18 and confused

Hi there, I'm an eighteen year old in community college freshman year and I practically did not get any credits this year. I have no motivation and no idea how Im suppose to transfer. I had to drop two class which are History and PE. i have several questions to ask and wondering can any one help.

I want to gain that motivation to actually transfer and go to class. In community college there aren't any people close to my age and it kind of scares me and i don't wan to go to class cause of it. i go to Merritt community college and was wondering can i transfer to another college with people around my age or is that to much to ask?

I don't know if i can get the minimum requirements for a transfer even with a extra classes and summer classes. is it possible to transfer to a UC when im a senior(after 3rd year of college) in college?

As i said in the earlier paragraph would they not except me into a college for dropped classes? it was history and i never had time to go to it and since i dropped it would that mean i get an F grade? and since PE was .5 credits would it count if i drop?

You need to go meet with the counselors at your CC and talk with them about your program. Sometimes when you drop a class you will get an F, sometimes it will be a W (withdrawal). Only the counselors at your CC know the system there.

They also should be able to tell you how you can find classes that have more young people in them, and which CCs and 4-year colleges you can transfer too easily.

Good luck!

I started at CC when I was 17 last year. I didn’t mind being in class or making friends with people who were older then me. It’s actually a good thing, the maturity is something am grateful for.

I also wasn’t motivated my first year and did okay. This semester I humbled down and is doing very well in all of my courses. I don’t let the little things bug my brain. I just focus on doing my best and in the end that is all that matters.Just remember, CC is only for the time being and you’ll be fine. You seem to already have an idea of what you want to do after CC, so worked towards it.

Thank you guys for the motivation ill try harder. ill have to move to a CC closer tho cause my CC is like an hour away.

Hi there, Don’t worry so much. I will turn 18 in a few days ,and right now this is my second semester in college. I am a Computer science n Engineering major btw.

Enjoy the class.make friends,i make a lot of friends (we have group work n study for the test together n stuff).there are many people who are older than me,and there are some that are the same age as me. Just don’t be rude n make friends.

For transferring , u can apply for transfer when you have enough transferable units(maybe 60) meet counselors for help, n arranging what class you should take.As ur counselors about IGETC and more. This site is useful for CC to CSU/UC
[Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org)

This is hard to say, it depends on the admission. But if you get a lot of F and W ,it makes ur application for transfer look bad. Don’t worry ,u can explain it to them for UC. Ask your counselors , and look at the dateline of your school when was the last day for dropping for refund /with a W. Then you will know if you get a F or W.
