1880 to 1970 SAT score

Should I send my updated score of 1970 to UF? I'm not really planning to go there anyway, and it's just a backup in case something goes wrong, but should I bother paying to have them receive my newer score?

Yes, that is a significant jump.

Absolutely.

They’re not accepting applications are they?

I applied back in September…

and ok, I guess I’ll send it whenever I get the money.

i want to send in first semester grades, hopefully they havent already tossed my app aside. by the way, im retaking the act in feb. on the 6th and obviously decisions come out 6 days later. is it even possible to get that score in there before decision and if i get rejected is there any way to appeal the decision?

UF says they don’t even look at January scores, so I seriously doubt they look at February scores.

“Should I send my updated score of 1970 to UF?”

Sure, why not. It can’t hurt.

“i want to send in first semester grades”

From what I’ve read and heard, they don’t look at it unless you’re a junior. I had FLVS classes completed with a final grade, but since I completed it in senior year, a bunch of admission officers told me that it won’t be considered. But regardless, it doesn’t take much work to send a transcript so give it a try… there’s nothing to lose.

“if i get rejected is there any way to appeal the decision?”

Yep… but from year’s past it was something like < 2%. Doesn’t hurt to try though :)

yeah im going to get on the phone with them and see what they have me at and ask if they’ll even look at it if i send it

I think they do look at January scores, they just prefer December scores.

On the UF website it says that December 31 was the deadline to submit test scores for consideration.

^ Ah ok. Well that’s cool. At least I get to save some money. I just want the acceptance letter tbh; I get tired of people saying “You’re only going to FSU because you can’t get into UF.”

Do you guys know if they look at mid-year senior grades if you are applying for the second decision? I didn’t have good test grades before the November 1st deadline, so I didn’t bother applying, but I brought them up at the December SAT and ACTs and my semester ends next week and I think I’ll be bringing up my gpa a lot.

Well, I just checked my UF status out of boredom and it says they received my SAT scores from December… That’s so weird. I didn’t send them out, and they didn’t get an updated transcript. How is that possible? It would have sucked if my scores went down and they sent those out to colleges without my permission…

It wouldn’t matter if the scores went down; they superscore! :D

Dnerd - UF receives all test scores. Someone explained to me that they match your social security number to your test and even if you don’t send them scores they have them. They have a 23 ACT composite from me which I did not send and I wasn’t happy about… but I was also told they only count the highest score in their decisions so lets hope so… 23 –> 29 is a big jump, and 1880 to 1970 is a solid jump as well.

Good luck on decision day

^
That’s incorrect. UF doesn’t receive all test scores.

However, if you go to a public high school in Florida the entire system is set up so UF receives all scores, something to do with the FCAT and SAT online infrastructure being public record.

I go to a private school so UF only has the scores I want them to see, but a friend of mine who went to a public school had to deal with it.

Oh… Well I wish they let us know that so I didn’t have to waste my free SAT score credits sending stuff to FSU and the like.

Thanks for the info.

If you go to a public school in Florida, the public colleges automatically get all of your scores. Florida and one other state (maybe Minnesota) are the only 2 states that have your social security numbers tied in the entire system. Honestly, you do not have to pay SAT and ACT to send your scores because it is automatically done. It stinks if you don’t want to send them but that’s just how it is.
