Do colleges want the first quarter grades, even if they do not require them?
And if so, how should I send them?
Thanks!

No, they don't.

Have a good night's sleep!

could i get anyone else's opinion on this, other than a confused student's?
excuse my sarcasm.

If they don't specifically state they want first-quarter grades, then they don't need them.

Some schools want (and will specify) first-quarter grades, mid-year grades, etc.

The way it is done is the guidance counselor will send them with your transcripts.

About half of the colleges will call to get a student's first quarter grades; guidance counselors will either give the grades verbally to the colleges or fax the quarter reports.

If the grades are good, sure, be proactive and send them off to the college even if they don't ask. Talk to your guidance counselor about it. If not so good, keep your fingers crossed the college doesn't call. Some colleges call to get the grades for most applicants, some just for those on the edge.

This topic comes up every fall on CC, and I know a number of students are surprised to hear that 1Q grades might be seen.

my Ds school had a specific form she had to walk around get grades, get signed with GC name and # and signature
