Hello people.
I am having difficulty building a schedule that will help me get into the Haas School of Business.
Math 1A vs Math16A?
Would it be wise to take stats 20 at the same time that I take one of the math courses.
Or UGBA 10? I was thinking about Econ 1 but I hear it is hard. What other classes should I take?

AP credit? Alternate possible majors?

Math 16A is a less rigorous calculus course than Math 1A.

Statistics 20 nominally requires calculus as a prerequisite.

As pointed out above, your schedule will depend on your AP/IB credit and possible back-up/double majors and minors. If your highest priority is maintaining a high GPA (rather than challenging yourself academically as much as possible and/or pursuing a quantitative major/minor), the math 16 series is your best bet. Although technically Stats 20 and 21 (which are essentially equivalent) require calculus, in practice they use no calculus at all.

I’d personally recommend Math 16A and R&C Part A, which offers a nice balance of quantitative and qualitative material and defers Stats, Econ, and UGBA (which are all oftentimes considered among the most competitive pre-reqs) until you have more fully transitioned to life and academics at Berkeley. If you have enough AP test credit, I’d consider taking just one pre-requisite to be able to focus more greatly on that particular class for your GPA.
