hi, i was wondering when our grades for the first semester would be posted on bannerweb. the suspense is killing me.

It's nice to know that Smith's grades come out later than ours.

Take THAT mom!

Hmm. D's final draft of her thesis isn't due until Friday. (Thank you, FedEx.) I was guessing that grades wouldn't be up until Monday at the earliest.

While grades are due on Monday, they won't be posted right away. I wouldn't start looking until the middle of next week at the earliest.

And depending on the professor, your grades might not be turned in until the spring semester has already started. That's certainly happened to me before.

From the link:

Grade Reports: Grades become available for viewing online immediately following the deadline for grade submission. All grades must be received by the deadline in order to allow sufficient time for processing. Paper copies of grade reports are no longer provided and are only available online through BannerWeb.

This would indicate that they would be available online Jan. 8 at 4 pm.

That's assuming that your prof's get them in on time. I was two weeks waiting last winter for a grade. If your prof has a history of disorganization (late returns on papers, etc), you might as well not hold your breath.

btw, i just noticed that the OP was gcheng, so to her: Hi! Can't wait to see you again back in the cube.

"That's assuming that your prof's get them in on time."

LOL! Some are always better than others . . .

I was poking around the faculty part of the Smith site and found that Smith is trying to be quite strict about the grade deadline. The site said that every grade left blank will be assumed to be a failing grade and entered as such. Any changes in grades have to be requested by the prof in writing, following the format provided. You can be sure that Smithies will not put up with a prof whose laziness "gives" them an F/E. even if it's temporary. And you can be sure that an overwhelmed prof won't want to fill out more paperwork. If the registrar holds the faculty to this, it should cut down on grades that come in two weeks after the deadline.

"the cube" sounds like something Borg-like.

MWFN, I can just about guarantee that a couple of profs will have late grades anyway. The ensuing flying of feathers won't be pretty. Or at least quiet. At least we know what many profs are doing this weekend....

Oh, I'm sure there will be late grades, but you can count on the students to call them on it. Smithies are hardly a submissive group. :-)

thanks so much for all your input. this has certainly been very helpful.

SandP: =DDD Hey! i went to my hs alumni day yesterday... it just hit me that in a couple years, i'll be doing the same thing for smith! i feel...old.

"You can be sure that Smithies will not put up with a prof whose laziness "gives" them an F/E"

Smithies will be the least of their worries. Parents aren’t contributing each year, to what amounts to the price of a decent Beemer for...ahh.. New year. I’ll be nice……………......For now ;)
