1st semester senior grades..PLEASE HELP!!

hey everyone i know there are many threads on this but i wanted to be assured on something for my case specifically..i even made an account just to post this thread

this past quarter, my grades fell significantly. i would like to blame it on stress of apps and last chance to do well on the act (even though i did worse idk how) but im in 5 ap classes, bio, spanish, stat, calc ab, and gov and politics and i got b's in calc and stat, c's in gov and spanish, and a d in bio. honestly, ik i shouldnt have chosen such a tough schedule but i only have taken 1 ap course along with several honors courses in my high school career prior to this year so i wanted to prove myself this year. i usually have a mixture of a's and b's on my report card and this is the 1st quarter i got no a's and even worse a d. can someone please tell me that it won't look that bad for college decisions and my chances of getting in. thanks so much.

I wish I could tell you what you want to hear, but I cannot.

You have several weeks to get your Bio grade to C. A mix of As and Bs is about right for tough AP courses.

Two of your courses, Gov’t and Spanish, I would assume have a fair amount of grade weight in homework assignments. If I were you, I would buddy up with a couple of people getting As in those two classes to a) study together for tests, and b) review each other’s homework.

If you can get all Bs and just the one C in Bio, because they are A/P courses, on a weighted basis that’s actually slightly stronger than As and Bs in regular courses.

i mean if my second quarter grades will be looked at as well along with first quarter, then i will definitely have a significant improvement. for bio i feel that at the least i will get a c if not a b, gov i should be able to get a b, spanish definitely b i am even going to talk to my teacher tomorrow because i feel that i deserved a b. other than that calc and stat are my strong subjects and i am confident that i will get a’s in both. my only hope is that for even my EA schools (univ. of michigan, univ. of miami, binghamton, wisconsin, and tulane) that they will see my second quarter grades because i can guarantee a big improvement. thanks for the response

Are you sure your ea schools will see these first quarter grades? Schools file one mid year report. just one. and it is usually after the semester ends. They might show your quarter grades then, but also your semester grade, which will be more important if it shows improvement.

EA? Assuming your school has already sent your transcript showing grades 9-11, I don’t think they’ll see any of your Sr. Yr. grades. Why don’t you check with your college counseling office to see exactly what was on the transcripts already sent to your EA schools.

I Would agree with “anotherparent” Consider your grades as semester grades and thats what colleges will see. Most likely not the intermediate grades you have earned. Try to bring up your grades by the mid year.

yea i forgot about that im pretty sure they send mid years and i know they sent my transcript out before the EA deadline so i guess i should be fine if i pull my grades up. thanks for all the help.
