2-3 B's First Semester Year

Hey everyone,

I’ve been kind of freaking out because everywhere I’m reading says first semester senior grades really matter, and I think they especially do for me because I have an extremely strong upward grade trend to junior year (Sophomore year I got 5 B’s, took 3 APs, junior years I got all A’s in 6 AP classes). My senior year courseload is very difficult; AP Gov/Macro, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science, AP Lit, and Elementary Linear Algebra at my local community college. However, I think I might end up with a B in AP Physics and AP Lit (hopefully not!) and maybe even AP Comp Sci. Will this affect my chances to top schools like HYPS?

Most schools will want to see first semester grades if you are applying RD. And yes, it will matter for HYPS level schools, especially if you are banking on an upward grade trend. Backsliding senior year doesn’t show the trend continuing.

Yes, they do matter. That’s a really tough workload you have.

What if I had 1 or 2 Bs? I mean ig they would affect chances but do you think it would it be like by a lot?
