Hi Folks,
I took college courses back in 2006 and have about 90 credits from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I am only a few semesters away from my Bachelors in Hawaii but no longer live in Hawaii. I was having a hard time in my life at that time, and that is the reason for my poor GPA.
I want to finish my degree in California but my GPA is so low to transfer (I assume).
What should I do? I’d like to attend a college like Chapman or Loyola Marymount but don’t make the 3.0 requirements.
Is it possible to ‘start all over’ and just attend a Community College and then transfer to another college if I get better grades?
No unfortunately you cannot ‘start all over’ since you have to provide your former grades. However, having an upward trend is a big plus.
You’re best be would be to call the universities you are interested in and ask about their transfer policies for senior-standing students. This forum is generally for the University of California (UC) schools.
Congrats on getting your life back on track!
I’m unsure about how it works, but you could try for academic renewal. If you can’t, having an upward trend is beneficial. If you demonstrate improvement, I don’t see why a university would hold grades from a decade ago against you. Good luck!
I suggest corresponding with the University of Hawaii. They might have good advice.
