"GMAT: 640
Age: 28
Number of years of work experience: 8
Undergraduate GPA: 2.5
Schools Applied to: 3 (NYU-Stern, Columbia, UW Madison) "

So, she's not entirely in the same boat as most of the people here, older obviously. But she got in with a 2.5, which says, there's hope for us all.

I actually skimmed this article, so I may have missed some important things in it, feel free to point them out.

I believe I said that. Nor, did I say she had anything in common, dear genius... simply that she was accepted with a 2.5. Do pay attention.
Really, keep the negative comments to yourself -

The point was, that although statistics say that you need this and this to get in, that that's not necessarily true. she had to fill out the exact same application as we all did, she was critiqued like we all are/were, she had right the same essays... and you could twenty years work experience and be fifty years old, if there's not something that stands out about you it doesn't matter.

And if anyone is unwitted enough to think, that just because one person gets in with a certain GPA then they are destined to get in as well, that's their problem.

the reason I posted this was because I'm in a very similar situation as her. And there may be other people here who are as well. Don't assume that everyone here is in the same boat as you. Assumptions create problems, as a lot of you have successfully illustrated.

"Read a little more carefully, jesminder. As mattistotle said, it's clearly business school, as in, MBA."

Nice. You don't know me. As I've said, this is geared towards people in similar situations, you don't know if I or anyone else here is working towards an MBA. There is no age limit here, or something that states you must be some incoming freshman, is there? No? Right. You read a little more carefully. If this isn't directly related to your circumstance, then move on, matth.

If you're using CC ugrad forum and working on your MBA....you don't have a chance of getting in.

you obviously meant for it to be geared towards ugrads, and you misread it...dont get offensive, just admit your mistake..no one really cares.

and we know you are an under grad and not a MBA applying because you said this: "I'm applying to NYU as a transfer. I only have one semester under my belt at another university, where my GPA is 3.56. I need another semester to show stability in my grades, only by that time - the..."

nice try though. Never said I was working on an MBA did I? "you don't know if I or anyone else here is working towards an MBA." Is what i said. I never said if I was, simply that the people here, IE you, do not know my situation. And, I am in a similar area as her, which by your ignorant comment, you still are unaware of.
As for "oh so obviously misreading it" I also said:
"I actually skimmed this article, so I may have missed some important things in it, feel free to point them out.". However, that's not the point. The article does relate to me. And even if you were such strong belief that I must be wrong, because you know me and everyone else here so well - there's no rude to be completely rude about is there? No. Thank you.

Edit: Also, you're obvious misquote is completely incorrect in your theory that I must be like you. Who says that I can't be at another college, seventy years old with thirty years work experience and have taken online classes originally? (Since I'm sure your feeble mind will miss this, as you have before, i'm not saying I am, and I'm not saying I'm not)

And finally, there is no where - and I've looked, where it says that this forum is all undergrad. Is there? Right, okay.

You've failed in your little sad attempt to be the spoken hard ass. Try again.

jasminder, you said we dont know you..we do
, your applying as a transfer, so grad school has nothing to do with you

theres a seperate board for graduate students

your whole long ad hominem is pointless... "Who says that I can't be at another college, seventy years old with thirty years work experience and have taken online classes originally?" IT DOES NOT MATTER IT APPLIES TO GRAD STUDENTS. GRAD ADMISSION IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN UNDERGRAD, WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?

if you dont want people to be rude to you , you shouldn't have been rude to me and matth in your initial post...when we were being just factual.

the article does not relate to you at all, transfer admission and grad is different, its a whold different friggen school basically.
