I checked out the University of Central Florida, University of North Florida, UF, and FSU. I was also thinking about school up north (any suggestions PLEASE).

Please rate me, I'm more motivated right now to boost my overall GPA and improve test scores. I want to become a computer engineer or investment banker.

To be quite frank, you’re going to have a hard time next year. Next year is going to be hard for every rising senior here and around America. Requirements are going to be more strict and money is going to be a significant factor as well, so I hope money won’t be a problem for you.

As for your academics and SAT’s, as of now, I don’t see you getting into any Ivies or “prestige” schools (BU, Tufts, Emory, etc). What’s killing you more than ever is your GPA, on top of that, your SAT scores aren’t too high, so try to break 2000 (or even 2200) to catch the eye of some admissions directors. Also, if you ahve an excuse for having a 2.5 GPA, I would incorporate that somewhere in the application.

Good luck man.

Beatfreaks is right. That GPA is going to kill you. You’re going to need some very, very good ECs, recommendations, test scores, and everything else you can throw at it. And now, I’m going to be honest… I doubt you’ll get into an Ivy League school. If you have your heart set on it, wake up. Look at more realistic choices. In-state schools are your best bet; if not that, then look at schools with an open acceptance (or accept everyone that applies). If your grades improve, look to transfer.

Good luck!

UF is somewhat a bit more tough than other Florida schools and most people admitted have high GPAs, although there are a small amount of people admitted with under a 3.0, and just above a 3.0 every year. A friend of mine got in there recently with a 3.7 GPA, and 19 on the ACT so if you improve your SAT/ACT scores to be competitive, admissions may look at you more favorably. Also senior year try to get a nice strong GPA 1st semester, or 1st marking period if your applying ED.

UCF isn’t hard to get into at all. Your 2.5 is a bit lower then what they accept, but if you get an 1900-2000/2400 you’ll be a competitive applicant there. FSU is a bit more competitive, and I’m not sure how applying there would go. Still apply. You never know!

Your extracurriculars are good, and the fact that you’re an athlete is a plus. It will definitely help at all the schools you’ve mentioned. I think if you write a good essay, and bring up your scores you’ll have a shot at any Florida school. But then again, as I’m sure you already know, UF is getting picky nowadays. They reject 4.0s every year. Don’t let that discourage you though…go for it! ;)

how is your international school one of the 4 best in the world. I went to a school in west africa and scored close to half of your SAT+ur original score ;)

It was a ranking done by US weekly or something. But yeah I know I won’t get into an Ivy school :stuck_out_tongue: I realized that a long time ago. Though I have been considering going to a school for an year or 2, knocking out the basic reqs, getting a high GPA, then transferring to a more prestigious school. Although UCF has an amazing campus, and UNF has the largest starbucks in the east :P

And thanks everyone for your encouragement and advice!! Seriously, it’s really motivating and gives me a lot of hope :D

UF admissions had a 37% admittance rate this year boasting high test scores.

So that is going to be a big reach.

For the others you should be fine.

stop flaming him about ivies, he didn’t even say he wanted to.

just raise your SATs and hope for the best, I guess.

Thanks u§ername. Hopefully I’ll raise it at least 2 or 300 points, thanks to SAT prep course I’ll be doing. I’m also doin the ACT in October, will it help my chances?
