2.8 GPA + 2000 first time SAT + URM = UMass Amherst + others EA?

No prob. Fordham is a close acceptance maybe, but I don’t really know monmouth enough.

UMass - match
Bentley - high match / low reach
Quinnipiac - match
Hofstra - match
Binghamtom - match/high match
Clark - high match
Stetson - high match
Rider - safety
William Patterson - match
Boston College - low reach
Northeastern - low reach

@IVCUSA11‌ your input is greatly appreciated :)

@BouncingHippo‌ same scenario as for the previous poster. Where will I be accepted, rejected, and wait listed?

UMass - match - accept
Bentley - high match / low reach - accept
Quinnipiac - match - accept
Hofstra - match - accept
Binghamtom - match/high match - accept
Clark - high match - accept
Stetson - high match - accept
Rider - safety - accept
William Patterson - match - accept
Boston College - low reach - denied
Northeastern - low reach - denied

@BouncingHippo‌ Thanks for the chance! what will my result be at Fordham? Monmouth?

I honestly don’t know about any of these schools other than Boston, Northeastern & UMass. I’d say high reach. That GPA is going to hurt you big time since it’s the first thing colleges look at. That SAT won’t look as good next to a 2.8.

@alsa2000‌ well, I’d explain myself perfectly. And I fail to understand how UMass is a high reach if its acceptance rate is >60%.

You have a lot of things going for you besides the test scores. I think that your essay will be very interesting, if written well, and I envy your ECs. It will really depend on the admissions person, and I think you could get into some of the schools that I put as rejected if the admissions person likes your application and if your essay is good. If you had a higher GPA, you would definitely get into all of these colleges.

Boston College: reject
University of Massachusetts Amherst - Accept
Bentley University - might accept/ borderline
Quinnipiac University (Priority) - accept
Hofstra University - accept
State University of New York at Binghamton -accept
Clark University - accept
Stetson University (streamlined) - accept
Rider University: accept
William Paterson University of New Jersey: accept
Northeastern: reject

Good luck!!

@netennis1‌ thank you for your insight! :)

Forgot to mention that I am a male.

Although your GPA is a little low, your essay topic seems absolutely fantastic and explains the dip in grades as well. I would say-

UMass - low reach
Bentley - mid reach
Quinnipiac - high match
Hofstra - match
Binghamtom - high match
Stetson - low reach
Rider - match
William Patterson - safety
Boston College - high reach
Northeastern - high reach

Good luck!

@rickynext7071‌ thanks! Where will I be accepted and rejected? Also, it’s *Binghamton! :)

Your gpa is an absolute killer. SAT is good for most of these schools. With this i mind UMASS would be a high reach and most likely a reject. Based on your stats do not apply to BC and Northeastern because you will be rejected. I’m being realistic. Even an awesome essay + urm + any other hooks you have will not compensate for your extremely low gpa. I think Fordham will reject you and Monmouth will accept you.

@jkpascale16‌ um, I don’t think my GPA will kill me at all. Kids from my school with lower GPAs and SATs have gotten into UMass. How is it a high reach if it’s got a 63% acceptance rate?

Rejected: Binghamton, Boston College, Northeastern
Accepted: UMass, Clark, Rider

I don’t know about the rest; good luck!

@epan1997‌ thank you! :)

@Ibad96 I was thinking about UMASS Amherst. I would say that UMASS Boston and Lowell are a fit.

I’m not sure about their business programs, but UMass Amherst is arguably the better UMass overall.

UMASS AMHERST- waitlist
Bentley- rejected
Quinnipiac- accepted
Hofstra-accepted
NY at Binghamton- waitlisted
Clark-accepted
Steston- accepted
Rider-accepted
William Patterson-accepted
BC-rejected
Northeastern-accepted

While you are a promising student whose has gone through a lot, your GPA is going to hurt you at first and the fact that your EC’s are okay at best. I think if you can bring your GPA up to at least a 3.0 for your career then I think you have better chances at all of these schools!

@jkpascale16‌ @epan1997‌ yes, I am referring to UMass Amherst. @EKGCCO19‌ well, I am a rising senior, so I have pretty much zero time to raise it above a 3.0 :frowning: but what would eventually happen with my wait list schools?
