My AP Lit teacher really liked my Personal Statement.

Yikes… The problem I’m seeing is that judging by your SAT score, you are perfectly capable of getting a high GPA… The question is how you got a 2.8??

Ah, unfortunately I didn’t have any kind of disease or death in the family that caused my GPA to be this low -_- 'twas merely my disregard for my academic life. I suppose I suffered minor depression for freshman and sophomore years, but it’s not any medical thing. I was very disillusioned but not anything any other teenager doesn’t go through. I’ll make sure to make my personal statement as dense and pedantically verbose on this matter as possible.

Make sure that’s your UC GPA. UC GPA only counts Soph and Jr year. I had a 3.2ish gpa overall but when I calculated my UC GPA that dropped down to a dead-on 3.0. So in this case it kinda hurt me, but in your situation it might move your GPA up.

I got into Davis so not all is lost I assure you. I’m Asian btw, so it wasn’t an affirmative action/diversity angle that got me in.
