Hey guys,
So as you can see, I got a 2.83 GPA first semester of Freshman year, but 2nd semester i got a 3.50.
My question is: if i get a 4.00 throughout the rest of high school, can i still get into a good school like Berkeley?

Berkeley (and UCs in general) does not care about freshman year…

Yes. You can still do it; UCs don’t consider freshman year grades for admission. I think it is pretty unrealistic to think you will get a 4.00 throughout the rest of high school, and although you should try, it isn’t necessary to get into a top school. A 3.8 might be necessary for admission to Berkeley though.
Are you a California resident? If so, you have higher chances of getting in and I’d understand why you’re set on Berkeley (instate tuition, prestige). UCLA is also a great school, just a notch below Berkeley in terms of prestige, but still very respectable. UC Santa Barbara is also great and with good grades you’re very likely to get in (unlike Berkeley which is extremely selective), maybe not as prestigious as UCLA or Berkeley, but still has great programs.
Good luck!

@skyscraper12 yup! I live in SF Bay Area. and i want to stay in the bay area when i graduate hs. so that’s why i really want to get accepted! what else should i do other than grades? I’ve played tennis this year and i’m really good! I’ve won a couple of awards so far so…and i also volunteer at a hospital.

Study hard for the SAT/ACT and write stellar essays for the UC’s. Keep up the good work and show consistency with your sports and volunteering (4 years).
