2.83. rescinded?

Will a 2.83 get you rescinded from UCB? I received a 3.67 first semester, and I really hope that this semester I get a 3.0 but I'm just speaking hypothetically...

well, from what I understand, you have to have a really good reason for having that low of a GPA. they specifically state in the conditions of admission that you can't get anythign lower than C and you have to maintain a 3.0 unweighted.

My question: Does a C- count as something lower than a C? I might get like 72% in my math class this semester

masha - no, the UCs don't look at pluses and minuses in high school grades. a C- is equivalent to a C.

well some people in the UCLA board said something like its 3.0 cummulative, and I was wondering whether it was the same thing for UCB.

Yup :)

Work harder or lose your admission. If you can pull off a GPA needed to get into UCB for your first seven semesters, you can at least achieve a 3.0 in your last.

what berkeley students get C- in math?!

student:
what does yup mean? is it cummulative?

Berkeley students with senioritis who hate busy work and take AP Stat (the class that's king of all busy work)

No. You need a 3.0 among the grades received in your last semester.

If it were cumulative, someone with a 4.0 average through seven semesters would be able to fail all classes in his eighth semester and still end up with a 3.5-3.6.

wth mash lol. i was missing half of my term (haha senioritis) and managed a 4.67. D:

meh, whatever. I guess i'm just an underachiever than ?

Come on masha, it's high school math for chrissakes. You don't even have to study to get an A-.

:( sobs stop making me feel like i'm inadequate or something !

wow these r the ppl that goto cal? but i guess since they talk **** about cal it means cal is pretty good

CalX i guess ur HS had crazy grade inflation cuz HW bring ur grade past B for me

u need a 3.0 in ur entire senior year, unless cal would not do the same thing as UCLA

"u need a 3.0 your entire senior year"
what does that mean?
so if i got a 3.67 first semester, i would be okay with a 2.83?

no... get at least a 3.0 uw BOTH semesters.

When I called them, they said more than a .5 drop in your GPA was seen as "significant' enough for a student's admissions to be rescinded.

but it says on their site that you need to maintain a B average, which is a 3.0 and nothing lower than a C...

in all honesty, you can at least pull a 3.0 in high school with your eyes shut and your fingers in a knot, if that really is the case

just ace the finals and i'm sure you will be fine.

What NeedAdvice? That's so weird, why would they say ONE thing on their website and then completely change their minds? What do they mean by a drop of .5 or more? .5 from your previous semester's GPA? Anyway, i think you're safe so long as you don't get D's and don't get a bunch of C's either. Getting B's is not so hard.
