2.8W freshman year, but a 33 ACT & an upward trend ever since- do I have a chance at BU??

Applying EDII, Undeclared in either CGS or CAS

White female attending a public high school in MA

School doesn’t rank

GPA: 3.4W (pretty extreme upward trend, as mentioned in the title-- 2.8 freshman year, 3.4 sophomore year, 3.8 junior year, looking at about a 4.4 or higher for senior year but that’s not final yet), my school doesn’t calculate UW but I think that’s probably close to 3.2?

ACT: 33

APs: didn’t start taking any until senior year, but I am currently enrolled in AP Psych, AP Environmental Science and AP Art History

Extracurriculars:
3 years in Mock Trial
2 years in Art Club
2 years in Book Club
1 year in Clay Club
2 years of volunteering at a dog rescue (100+ hours)
religious education teacher’s aide (only about 10 hours)
began working at a pizzeria in August as a server/cashier

Awards: Four-year John and Abigail Adams Scholarship (I know everyone probably has this listed but I don’t have any other awards so I figured it’s better than nothing)

Essays/recs: As far as recs I’m not really sure, probably not awful but they might come off as a bit generic. I wrote my essay on failing my driver’s test (twice lol) and was told it was pretty good, and I’m still in the planning stages for the supplemental

I toured the college over the summer and also signed up for the mailing list

If it helps, I also applied to Northeastern on ED and was denied, and I am applying to UMass Amherst, UConn, UNH, and Quinnipiac on RD.

I would really appreciate ANY feedback. The fact that I’ve already been rejected is kind of stressing me out and I really just want to know what I should be prepared to hear from BU.

Your ACT score is extremely high. I wonder what you would get on the SATs. Also, what exactly do you want to major in? Additionally, your GPA has improved but is very low. And the fact that you didn’t take an AP class until senior year could also hurt you. Really focus on the writing parts of your applications and pray for incredible recommendation letters from your teachers. It also looks good that you visited and signed up for the mailing list. And I’m honestly not surprised that you got rejected from Northeastern, sorry :frowning:

My predictions:
NYU - Denied
BU - Denied
UMass Amherst - Accepted
UConn - Deferred ~ Accepted or Denied
UNH - Deferred ~ Accepted
Quinnipiac - Accepted

Best of luck to you!!!

@smileyface74123 thank you for replying!! I appreciate the honesty (although I’m not applying to NYU, haha)
