2.9 GPA hoping to transfer to UCD

Im hoping to transfer to USD in the Fall of 2018, I currently have a 2.9 GPA. It will be around a 3.3 by the time of transfer and I will have finished my IGETC and classes needed. I’m planning to apply as a cell and developmental bio major, with psych as my alternate major. But I’m not sure how high my chances are of getting in. UCD is my top choice but I’m also applying to UCSB, UCSC, UCR and UCSD. Im also planning to TAG for UCSB since I’m not eligible for UCD’s TAG.

Admit GPA range for major at UCD was 3.46-3.90 which makes it a tough admit.

What will your GPA be at time of application since UCSB and UCD require the same TAG GPA of 3.2 by application time?

A GPA below 3.0 will be a difficult admit at all except UCR.

I am currently in the same EXACT position right now. I want to transfer to UCD w/ a bio major in the Fall 2018. However, my GPA is 2.9 right now. I had earned 4 C’s between Spring 2017 and Summer 2017.

I planned to apply for UCSB tag (because UCD discontinued their science program for Fall 2018 which is soooo unfortunate and unlucky for some of us), but I would need a 4.0 by the end of this upcoming Fall quarter to bring my GPA to a 3.2 (requirement for SB tag). This means an A (not even A-) in bio, chem, calc, and two other 4 unit courses. This sounds highly challenging so I am planning to apply for tag for UCR which is the only tag I’m eligible to apply to at this point.

I really want to apply for transfer for Fall 2018 but with a GPA of 2.9 through an extremely impacted major, the chances of admission for ANY UC seems so low.

Davis is my top choice, then: SD, B, LA, SB, R, SC. (I am aware that SD, B, LA might be no brainers that I would not get accepted).

I am HOPING Davis continues TAG for the science program in Fall 2019, would make things much easier.

Should I go ahead and apply anyway or stay at my CCC for a third year and apply for transfer for Fall 2019?

If I do stay for a third year, I will most likely take my courses at a reasonably slow rate in order to assure all A’s to show an upward trend from the two terrible quarters I had and to maximize my GPA.

@CCtransfergirl The only science majors that are closed for Fall 2018 TAG are “Undeclared” and the “Natural Sciences” major. TAG is open to all other majors, including ones in the college of Biological Sciences and the college of Letters and Science.
