So my freshman and sophomore year I was lethargic and did not work as hard. My junior year was pretty good. 3.7 first semester 3.6 second. I have an upward trend with my grades(including this year). I want to know the acceptance rate for someone like me of getting into UW Seattle.

AP Classes:
AP computer science
AP US. Gov.

I currently have a 2.91 cumulative GPA. I got a 1630 the first time I took the SAT(taking it again this week).

While it’s great that you have an upward trend (in your junior year it sounds like - it’s too early in the year for your senior to call it either way), I highly doubt that trumps a 2.91 gpa.

Apply. You never know the admissions decision without trying.

How much do you want to go to UW? Would you consider going to a CC and then transferring? It looks like you got yourself together (school-wise) during junior year, so this path is something you should consider if you really, really want to go to UW.

UW has been a life-long dream of mine. I am having a couple of teachers revise my essay. I will also have a couple of friends currently attending UW look it over.

^ Also right. If you don’t get into UW Seattle now, don’t go to the first university that accepts you (CWU, EWU, WSU, etc.). If you go to a CC you will have a chance to get into UW Seattle once again (they won’t consider your HS grades or SAT/ACT after you finish 40 college credits)

im pretty sure that University of Washington will not accept transfer students from Community College, though that’s just what I heard from a college fair event.

I’m pretty sure you’re talking through your hat, though that’s just based on what I read when I took the trouble to go to the University of Washington’s web site:

But, Bradg2, I think UW looks like a long uphill climb for you. I haven’t found UW’s common data set for 2011 or 2012, but in the freshman class entering in 2010, your SAT score would be around the bottom quartile, and your GPA even lower. Ninety-nine percent of that class had a high school GPA > 3.0, and 96% had GPA > 3.25. Unless you’re leaving out some special skill, such as sacking quarterbacks or dunking a basketball with both hands, I am afraid you shouldn’t get your heart set on UW.

jazzcuzi, you are very very mistaken. I am a transfer student from a community college.

Beyond the link already posted by sikorsky…the UW website even has a course equivalency guide to help those transferring from a community college to UW…
