I am foriegn born 20 year old hispanc male from Illinois.

In high school I took AP Physics and Chemistry graduated with a low 2.8 GPA.
At a local community college I currently have a 2.9 GPA. The harder classes I have taken are Calculus I, Physics I, Chem I, Botony, Advanced Bio.

In my final semester I will be taking Physics II Chem II and Calc II, Ill have like 60+ credits.

I would like to transfer to some larger state schools in the midwest for I bio chem major, but with a 2.8 high school gpa and a 2.9 college gpa, is it worth applying now?

I could apply after this semester when my gpa will be a 3.0 or a semester after when I would retake 3 or 4 classes I recieved a C in and my GPA would be a 3.25.

So where to I have good chances and could should I apply now ???

My only advantage is that I am hispanic and the main reason for my lower graders is that I have been a national competitior in triathalons, swimming and kickboxing. I still compete nationally in triathalons and Muay thai kickboxing, but colleges dont really care about that, S.O.L.

Damn, dude, you're in really good shape to do triathalons, swim and kickbox.... Anyway, there are a bunch of schools that would admit you as a transfer student. A lot of Missouri State schools - Univ of Missouri, Missouri State, SE MO State. A lot of Illinois schools would admit you as well - Univ of Illinois would be a reach but, Illinois State, Chicago State, Ill-Chicago, Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Eastern Illinois and etc..

Other schools I would look at are: Iowa State, Indiana, Nebraska, Univ of Kansas, Kansas State and some state schools in Ohio.

Go to review.com and do some research on schools in the Midwest and see which best fits you personally.

Thanks...
I applied to University of Illinois, Illinois State and Universtiy of Iowa.
As a transfer no personal statement letters are asked for, but I have thought about asking them if I could include one anyway so explain my athletics.

Worst comes to worst I'll just retake the 3 college credit classes that I took in high school which I recieved a C. In high school I never thought it would effect my college GPA.
