i got a C+ in AP English and a C+ in Honors Psychology on my first term report card of senior year, which, unfortunately, is being sent off the the colleges i'm applying to... ugh. will this ruin my chances? i have all B's in honors and AP classes other than the 2 C+'s, and the rest of my transcript is mostly B's in honors and AP classes, with the occasional C and the occasional A, but 2 C+'s in senior year. that's gotta hurt. oh and i'm applying to UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Davis, San Diego State, 5 NY State schools (too lazy to list em all, cuz they're safeties i believe... well maybe not anymore!), Syracuse, Ithaca, and NYU if that matters. i'm not gonna review my stats again cuz i already did a post about that, but i have excellent EC's and above average SAT scores.

look at this: http://pbs-newshour.virage.com/cgi-...0&submit=Search

a kid had a grade slip sophomore year (three B-'s) and they rejected him because of that.

BUT DO NOT FRET. Amherst is a lot harder to get into than those colleges you listed. I'm sure it will hurt a little, but def. not ruin your chances at those San Diego schools.

I'm in the same boat you in. I got a 68 in AP Bio, but such is life. I'm enjoying my senior year. I had all As other than that and if that happens to keep me out of the schools I'm applying to, then I can't do anything about that.

looks like it's time to work double-time. I moved a D- to a B- in AP Chemistry, I was thrilled. As long as you don't slack off for the rest of the year (mainly 2nd quarter since that's the only other quarter that there is a remote chance of colleges seeing while reviewing your application), you should be in good condition.

I though that only the semester grades count. So i wouldn't worry.

thaths everyone for your imput.

i thought that only first quarter counted? but it's first SEMESTER that colleges actually see?

and hey if it keeps me out of the schools i'm applying to, them i probably wouldn't want to be at those schools anyways... it's too nitpicky to reject me over a couple bad grades when i have so many other things to offer.

bump

anyone know- do colleges see your first QUARTER grades or first SEMESTER grades?

I live in California, so I don't know how it's done over in New york, but the transcripts here only show semester grades.

I'm pretty sure it's only semester grades, so I need about a 120 in Bio this term to offset the 68 :)
Either way, I'm not stressing, I've been to this site too many times and have seen too many people worried about getting into a second-tier school with perfect grades and perfect ECs. Everyone will end up where they belong, lighten up.
