I'm an intended MCB/Math double major, and Math 110 and MCB 100B are have lecture at the same time AND the same final exam slot this spring...

Is there any possibility one of the professors can change the time if I ask?

Is there any possibility one of the professors can change the time if I ask?

It’s unlikely… I mean, you could try, but I doubt they’d be able to reschedule an entire class to accommodate one student. But the schedule draft only just went live today-ish, so I guess there’s a chance things’ll still change.

Is it possible to put one off for a semester, and take it in the fall? Might be easier than trying to be in two places at the same time.

MCB 100B is only offered in the spring, and I want to graduate next spring, and it’s a prerequisite for something that’s only offered in the fall…

I could prolong 110, but I really wanted to take it this semester since Ribet is teaching it and one of my best friends is taking it.

It is normal for two courses meeting at the same time to have the same final exam time, since that is the way to minimize final exam conflicts (students normally do not take two courses meeting at the same time).

Yeah. If I decide to take booth classes, will I be likely to be able to reschedule midterms and the final so i can actually take both class’ exams?

I wouldn’t count on it.

Oh, are professors not often flexible about it, even if it’s brought up early?

They can try to accommodate you when it comes to exams, but it honestly depends on the class/professor. If you do want to try taking both, bring up the conflict with them as early as possible.

But honestly, would you really want to take both at the same time? You’re paying for your education, it seems ridiculous to take a class when you cannot attend any of the lectures (assuming you have to choose between two overlapping lectures).

(Also, there’s a chance one of them might be offered over the summer, if you don’t want to wait til Fall to take it.)

I need to take 100B to graduate on schedule (since it’s only offered in the spring and is a prerequisite) and I want to take 110 because the professor is good and because my friend is also taking that class…I’m not that worried about being able to do well in 110 without attending lecture since I did well in 54, I still have homework and discussion to help me learn, and I can always get the lecture notes from my friend.

You will have more chances to take Math 110: summer 2014, fall 2014 (both 110 and H110 probably), spring 2015.

The other thing to consider is that if you want to take Math 110 in spring 2014 for a better instructor, but won’t be able to attend many or most of the classes, that does not really make sense, since you won’t be able to experience much of the better instructor anyway.

I guess my question would be – if you want to take both classes, the presumably you want to attend both of them?

1) I’d ask both Prof’s and see if they think it’s feasible.
2) You’ll have to deal with the tele bears restriction likely, so you have 2 prof’s + advisor to talk to in order to have everything squared away.
