2 Minutes Into the Common Application and I am FREAKING out!

Good for you...I started late, I only have one more chance to bring up my SAT scores before the EA deadlines for the places I'm applying to.

Seriously, though. My scores are like really low. Not ACT, just SAT.

I still plan on staying away from apps for maybe another week or so. I don't want to be stressed just yet.

where are you applying, and why did you take the act? because of your low sat?

There's personal information (name address DOB ethnicity [if you choose to answer] citizenship etc), parents' information (their names, what colleges they graduated from, occupations), sibling information (name, age, degree), academic information (school, counselor, summer schools, college/university courses), self reporting scores, academic honors, ECs, work experience, space to elaborate on one of the ECs or jobs, and essay

Personal Essay Please write an essay (250 words minimum) on a topic of your choice or on one of the options listed below. Please indicate your topic by checking the appropriate box. This personal essay helps us become acquainted with you as a person and student, apart from courses, grades, test scores, and other objective data. It will also demonstrate your ability to organize your thoughts and express yourself.
p 1 Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

edit: posted for benefit of those that can't download :)

Question: Do we have to print it out and fill it out by hand or can we do it on the comp. and the print, or do we just submit the whole thing electronically?

I took the ACT because in the area of the country I live in, it's very widely accepted. Actually, the state of Michigan requires everyone to take it during March of junior year, then I retook it because it's really popular around here.

I'm applying to UMich, Michigan State, Kalamazoo, Albion (Kzoo and Albion are in state private schools), Villanova, Providence College (I'm legacy there), and University of Richmond

I CAN leave race empty? cause i am asian and that wil hurt me.

AOM: stop freaking out while you can. You're only a rising junior, right?

Yes, race is optional

You have another year to fix all that stuff! I, on the other hand, am screwed.

Don't make me slap you. You're lucky we're having this conversation on an internet forum. Because I've done it before.

You need to relax. Just...relax.

There's nothing else I can say. It's a waste of time to be thinking about this that heavily one random July day the summer before your junior year. I've been there. It was stupid. I wish someone had told me to just relax, because there's nothing you can do about it at the moment. You're not in school right now, you're just wasting time you could otherwise be having fun in. Or, at least, studying during, because that's obviously your thing. I don't know you, all I know is what I've gathered about you in the last week. But I have a feeling that you're someone who could have perfect stats and still be freaking out. Take it from someone who for sure doesn't (you can check my chances threads if your curious), wasting time worrying about it before it's even really time to worry is sorta stupid. All I can tell you is to do is to relax.

And neither do I. And I am freaking out, but I'm not yelling at random girls on the internet. I got a 180 on my PSATs, okay? I did about just as well on my SATs. My GPA is only a 3.8, and has steadily gone down since freshman year. I'm obviously not National Merit. I'll probably get rejected from one of my dream schools.

And the world continues to turn.

Well, the situation may be a girl yelling at another girll.....

you never know.

Do you have any real life friends who have been through this? Because in my experience, talking to my friends in '07 and '08 has been more advantageous because they know our high school and the colleges I'm applying to. And more importantly, they know me.

nope....lmao..i don't...none. nada....

for your obusive language artofmind_21 i have to report you to cc authorities...how dare you attack an innocent girl! learn your manners...srgirl...i apologize for his rude behavior....please take my apology

well u still shouldn't fight a girl....even if u r a girl...and you just used abusive language "LMAO"....another report to cc authorities...you will be banned
