2 is a faling grade. Some people think that just the fact that you took the test is somehow honorable. UPENN, JOHNS H, CORNELL, DUKE, YALE AND HARVARD will not think so. Just cancel that score, it will not help you with anything, and it can hurt you. It is not an honor infraction - you are alowed to cancel scores you don't want.

but then again, a three might get you credit even at top universities. so i take it back. don't let your schools know about any scores of 2 or less.

You can't pick and choose which scores you want to show. While I understand some of you have a multitude of 5s to show off on your apps, others weren't fortunate to have attended schools that had such wonderful AP programs. I say you report your 2 and wear it with pride. Colleges understand that not everyone is good in everything, although the Ivies will have you believe otherwise. They're not going to reject you simply because of some AP tests. While it does hurt you somewhat, it'd hurt you more not to report it and have think that you took these courses without bothering to take the test.

Well as the collegeboard says, having taken the AP exam shows you put effort and stuff... as opposed to not having taken the class/exam at all.

"IMHO" AP Chem has got to be one of the harder Chem tests. I got a 5 on the practice exams we took, but I got a 3 on the real thing. The first type of essays (involving acids, logs, etc...) are killer. I just finished taking General Chemistry II in college and I'm still struggling with them. A 2 is understandable.

I have two good scores and one bad...when I talked with admissions guy from harvard he said they don't count ap scores against you, they can only help...so basically, you're fine...

I have an AP scholar award, but also have a 2 on Physics. My counsilor just whited it out on my transcipt, and I think he knew what he was doing. In fact he's the president of some national association of college councilors.

wouldn't not showing a 2 be like not showing a C in a hard class you took?

Like:
"I got a 5 on all my AP tests, except for the ones I got a lower score on, so I won't show you those!"
and:
"I got all As, except for the classes I didn't, so I won't show you those grades!"

... if the AP chem test is anything like the IB one, then it would be one of the hardest, if not THE hardest test.

They like seeing that you took the class. Maybe you just had a bad day when you took the test, especially if you have OK grades in the class. I got a 1 in AP french and sent it to Harvard/Yale, got in.

HAHA, not as bad as my 1 in AP US History. Oh well, history is not my strong area...esp. since I'm applying to a tech school that could give a **** about english grades.

"Nngmm"...I didn't mean to imply that sending in a 2 would be an advantage. I meant that sending it in is not a disadvantage. The funny thing is, unless you are sending an official report, you only have to state ap scores that you wanted included (at least for harvard and yale...)

oh wow, that's a lot of replies, and such a mixed # of reponses, i have no idea what to do now. god this is tense. does anyone know if they require you send in your ap score reports before you apply? god send or not to send. i'm also applying to harvard. but crap someone said they got a 1 and still got into harvard? were you like top of your class with high sats/ currics to make up for that or what? crap crap crap

I think that a 2 on AP chem is pretty bad. As for its difficulty, I didn't even take AP chemistry and still got a 5. It wasn't really a hard test.

I'm taking AP Chem right now. The class is pretty hard. (maybe it's just my teacher--I took honors chem last year and it was easy). Then again, I must admit, the test we're having on Thursday of this week should be EASY (reaction rates and equilibrium). The test (molecular geometry) I took about a month ago, however, is the total opposite of easy.

I too did not take AP chem. I just had a generic basic chem class, and I didn't study for the test, and I made a 4. Calc BC is the hardest AP test.
