2 or 3 years of High School Foreign Language for Berkeley?

According to assist.org potential molecular bio majors at cal have to complete the major requirements as well as the IGETC or L&S requirements. What confuses me is that the L&S requirements state that you need 3 years of a foreign language at high school while the IGETC states that you only need 2.

Do certain majors at Cal only require 2 years of a foreign language in high school or do they all require 3? I took the first year of spanish in my sophomore year of high school and the 2nd in the following summer. I don't have a 3rd year.

Am I good to go or should I start studying for the spanish SAT subject test?(I don't want to take anymore spanish classes)

I’d assume IGETC applies to college stuff, if however you can certify with the HS classes, awesome!

smirk Of course, to be competitive I’d suggest 3 years of high school in 4 or 5 languages! :)

2 years of a foreign language in high school satisfies the igetc foreign language requirement. anybody know if berkeley requires 3?
