my mom's a beautician, she gets payed about half of what she makes from her employer,so she doesn't get that income tax thing, so when they ask for my moms income tax report what do i put?

Also, my dad this year got 2 jobs.his 2006 income tax report thing said he made 30k.his projected income report for '07 should be 50k for both jobs combined. For the FAFSA form, will i need to use the 2006 report or the 2007 one?

if you guys didn't understand any of what i just wrote(which you probably didn't, lol) just let me know.

Not sure I understand, but here's an attempt:
FAFSA will ask about untaxed as well as taxed earnings, but I dont' know if one of the categories they ask about is tips. I bet someone else here knows and will speak up. Is that the issue with your mom's income tax? If the issue is that she doesn't file a tax return at all - well, they'll ask about income and then they'll ask whether your parent will file a tax return, as two separate questions.

The tax year that matters for the 08-09 academic year is 2007.

If your mother is a beatician and her employer doesn't provide a W2 form, then she is, in essence, self-employed. She would either receive a 1099 as an Independent Contractor, or would need to keep track of everything she earns and file completely as self-employed. Because she is earning wages from the employer.....she has to file a tax return.

This would be true even if the employer you reference is not how she is making her beautician money.
