2 questions about jhu

Why is the average unweighted high school GPA for admitted applicants at jhu so low?
Why is the undergraduate pop. at jhu so low?

5000 undergraduates is already medium size and not that much of a difference from Harvard’s. I don’t why JHU’s HS UWGPA is so low, but I think it’s because the ones with 3.7- GPA weren’t going for extremely competitive majors like pre-med majors or BME.

There is no such thing as a pre-med major. Anyone can apply to medical school if they take the required classes.

It doesn’t matter what major you apply for if it isn’t BME. Someone could apply as a mechanical engineering major and choose to major in English. BME probably does have students with higher GPAs though.

Money! JHU’s students financial aid budget is only $16 million which is small compared with others. If you have money, you can grab more stellar students. In addition, JHU UG admission needs to do a better job of marketing although they are improving.

al, I meant pre-med related majors such as biology or w/e… majors that have required courses for medical school, but I guess I was a bit unclear.
