the next question is, what makes uci a good place to go to school?

I would say you’re definitely in

btw that’s my UC gpa.

most likely in. by the way, UC’s don’t look at letters of recc

oh yeah sorry about that

What makes uci a good place to go to school?

Like any college, UCI is a good place to go to school if (and only if) it’s a good fit for you.
UCI’s most striking characteristic is being a young and respected university on its way up. It’s dynamic, innovative and creative with a very strong interdisciplinary emphasis. If that’s a good fit for you, you’ll find yourself crossing boundaries.

UCI has one of the best writing programs in the country, certainly the best in the UC system.
UCI has the only informatics and computer science school in the UC system, which contributes expertise to the whole university --it’s that interdisciplinary emphasis.
UCI has very strong humanities, arts, and social sciences (remarkable in such a young university). That makes for a good general education with any major.
The Department of Education (and that interdisciplinary emphasis) fosters educational excellence. There’s an emphasis on effective teaching and a lot of teaching support. Most of the faculty actually give a d@mn about quality teaching of undergraduates and graduate assistants are taught how to teach.
The campus architectural layout with Aldrich Park at the center and the colleges surrounding it creates a friendly, small college feeling.
Opportunities to travel and study abroad in the summer and regular year are abundant. UCI offers a wide-ranging summer travel-study program as well as UC’s education abroad program (California residents pay normal UC fees) and independent opportunities program.
One can only guess what the new law school, opening next year with a “dream team” faculty, will add. But it’s likely to be a tremendous contribution.
If you can do without football–admittedly a big downer for a college sports fan–volleyball, water polo, basketball and baseball can be pretty good.
