2 quick questions

Are we allowed to wear caps or possibly even hoodies during the SAT test?

I find that it prevents me from looking up which causes my focus to be lost for 2-3 seconds (which is actually a really big deal). I'm afraid the proctor would be suspicious and assume cheating or something.

Is it better to not take any practice tests 1-2 weeks before the actual test?

A lot of my classmates that I have asked have told me that I shouldn't prep for the test anywhere within the week of my test. Apparently it keeps you fresh for the actual test. Now, I understand where this thinking comes from but my thinking is a little different. I think that if I practice constantly (do 1 practice test everyday) the week before the test, then I would be better adapted and ready to take take the Saturday test. What does CC think?

PS: I don't need to cram-study at all. I have been consistently taking at least 1 SAT test a week ever since mid-June. Also I'm in the 2100-2200 range if that helps.

Thanks (:

Can’t answer #1 for sure, would depend on the proctor’s mood I guess.

But #2- don’t ‘cram’ as in, think that taking 10 practice tests the night before will do you any good. I honestly think it’s a good idea to practice until the day before the SAT, just lightly and without any tension (i.e. getting a bad section and being paranoid you’ll bomb the real thing in 2 days). As long as you realize that, taking a few refreshers is good to keep the blood flowing. Just depends on the person.

I would say you can take a full practice test no less than 3 days before the test. You really don’t need an entire week to “freshen up.” Take a practice test 4 days before the test, review EVERYTHing you got wrong and were unsure of, then you should be good.

As for #1, yeah it really depends on the proctors mood. I would say don’t even ask and just wear a hat or hoodie. Don’t walk into the test room with it on, put it on before it starts.
