2 Quick Questions!

1- When is the ideal time to take the SAT?
*Im currently a Junior and taking one in June. Is this too late? On most college websites, they ask for all standardized tests to be completed by December...is this true for all colleges? Whats the usual admissions deadline for doing a final SAT/Subject test?

2-When is the best time to start applying for colleges in the United States/Canada?
I hear from most people that you should start collecting letters of reccomendation at the end of Junior year.Correct?

Thanks!

no, it’s not too late. But you should take SATII around Oct if you can.

And yes, most schools’ deadlines for those tests are around the end of December

For the second question. In fact, you should start preparing right now, like go to see your counselor or collect recommendation as you said.

bump,

but if im applying to (for example) 10 different schools (in the Us and canada), does this mean I need to ask 10 reccomendations from each teacher? I understand that there is the Common Application, but is it applicable to every American college (private and public?)?

No, not all schools are common app schools, so some schools will have their own recommendation forms that need to be filled out. (Many public state schools are not common app, I think.) Also, different schools have different requirements in terms of how many recommendations you need and who the recommendations need to be from (e.g. counselor vs. arts/humanities teacher vs. science/math teacher).

From my experience, teachers often write one letter of recommendation they can attach to each of the recommendation forms (rather than filling out the comments section separately in each of the recommendation forms by hand).
