2?s: Disney CP & US Perf Arts Camp?

I have two separate questions for those in the know at FSU:

–I have discovered that there is a US Performing Arts Camp in MT at FSU this June that actually fits with my daughter’s summer dance team schedule. Besides being held in their facilities, is there any connection between FSU’s MT program and this camp? I’m assuming it’s been held here previously. Do many students who attend this workshop end up at FSU in MT??? I was thinking that if nothing else it would give my D an opportunity to see the campus, housing, and theatre facilities.

–Can MT students at FSU participate in a co-op or internship program like Disney’s College Program? My D wants to work at Disney World after college graduation and has always wanted to participate in this program. But I am thinking that if only a small number of kids are allowed in every year and their degree program is so specific, that they probably wouldn’t be able to participate.

Many thanks!

Mom2them,
This is the second year that US Performing Arts has been on campus. There is no connection between the MT program and the camp. They do use our facilities so it would be a way to get an impression of campus. In addition, I would be happy to meet with you about the MT program while you are on campus.

I don’t know of any MT students who have done the Disney College Program. The curriculum is too rigorous to allow a semester without training. Some of the MT students do choose to do the acting intensive semester in London, but they still must take voice and dance while they are abroad. I have had BA students participate in the Disney College Program and the jobs available have not been in the performance area. Quite a few MT majors have worked as performers in the stage shows at Disney during the summer or after graduation for a bit.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
