So, I'm transferring in the Spring to a 4-year school. I already used the max allowed 6 semesters of NYS TAP at my 2-year. Question is, can I apply for TAP for the Fall with my current FAFSA app? I'm thinking all I have to do is add my new school's code to the FAFSA, start a TAP application, delete my current school from the TAP app if it was automatically placed in there, and then add my new school for the Spring.

Any problems with doing this? I assume things deleted from the TAP app have no effect on your FAFSA app and Pell? Anyone ever done this?

If you’ve already applied for TAP for 10/11, you probably shouldn’t start a new app. Call the HESC help desk and ask them to update your school code for spring semester. TAP codes are separate from FAFSA codes and the TAP app has no effect on FAFSA. You’ll have to update the school code on your FAFSA separately. Pell awards are derived from FAFSA only, no relation to TAP at all.

I’m not applied for 2010 because I didn’t qualify at my current school, so I’m applying for Spring 2011, I assume it’ll work as long as I make it in under the Spring deadline.
