I've taken classes from two community colleges. I failed 2 courses at my first community college and retook them at my second community college and received A's. In section 7 of the application labeled "College Information", I have listed two community colleges. Those classes that I retook, where do I list them? Do I have to call the community college that I failed my classes and have my transcript transferred to them so that they can change those F's to A's or can I just omit those F's and replace them with A's. I know the deadline is tomorrow and all school's are closed so there's nothing I can do now; however, is it possible to to have my records transferred to my first community college after I submit my application tonight before the schools actually go over my application and throw it out for false information?
SO CONFUSED :(

Example: Community College 1: F, F
Community College 2: A,A

Where should I list those A's A's and do I have to list the F's even though I retook those classes at a different community college (but not updated transcript records?); otherwise, my GPA at my first community college will be significantly lower considering I've only taken a few classes there...

Also, when I list my GPA, do I add every class that I have taken or do I only calculate my GPA with transferrable classes. My counselor was confusing on this part.

OK, so when I calculate overall GPA then I have to average in both of the F’s and the A’s even though I should only be calculating in the A’s, thus, making my GPA much much lower?
Isn’t there a way around this somehow? Can’t I just replace the F’s with the A’s in my application then call up my old community college and send them transcripts of my A’s so they can change the F’s to A’s in the next two weeks? I thought Universities don’t check transcripts until march anyways when they actually decide whether you’re admitted or not? I don’t see how much harm it can do me.
In fact, I could just put I have a 4.0 and they wouldn’t know until march when they ask me to prove it with my transcripts, right? OR am I completely missing something here.
Cause, If I just put in the two F’s and A’s they won’t even accept me cause it will lower my GPA.

If they go to check your transcripts in June/July and find out you lied, you get rescinded and are in a world of trouble. Do not lie about your grades. You’re better off putting putting down all (real) grades for all your classes… maybe put a note in the comments about what happened/that you retook it.

If you can manage to get the grades cleared/changed at your old school, update it after that change actually happens. I don’t even know if that’s possible to do. But the schools won’t look at transfer apps for a while anyways, so if you can manage some magic to change it you should be able call/email (tell them you made a mistake, explain it, whatever) and get it updated on the app.

If I can get it updated later on then I will gladly put in the F’s; however, I’ve read that it’s not possibly to update your application after it has been submitted. I’ve heard that the only thing possible to update is specific information such as address location and so on…

Maybe I can call later on and ask them to put in a note for my application that those specific grades have been upgraded thus my overall GPA is actually higher than in the application. If so, that would make a world of difference. Otherwise, I’ll probably not get accepted because of this as it looks really bad on my application…

From personal experience: Some community colleges (especially this time of year) take much longer than 2 weeks to grant academic renewal. And some community colleges will actually put on your official transcript when the academic renewal was granted.

The bottom line is: Don’t lie on your application. The application states in several places to include ALL grades, even if you think they don’t count or will affect your admission to a university.

“I don’t see how much harm it can do me.” If you don’t think having your offer for admission rescinded will harm you, then by all means, go right ahead and fudge your grades.

Honestly, you knew you needed to have your grades taken care of at your cc months ago. A university will not look kindly on the fact that you did not get them taken care of by the application deadline AND you lied about them. You are better off noting that you are in the process of having the grades renewed but it has not yet been completed rather than being dishonest.

Thank you for your honest and thorough opinion. Because you put it that way, I’ll just make a note in my application that it is in the process and it would take longer than expected, thus, i could not have completed it before the application deadline. Hopefully they take it easy on me because of this. I’ll make sure to call back again once the transcripts are updated so that they can make a note of it or possibly by some chance change it?

The school I applied for is San Diego State University. If I live in San Diego, would it be possible for me to go directly to the school and talk to a representative from the admissions department to see if they could possibly change it for me or at least attach my new transcripts to the application? I know this seems unprofessional, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get in…

Have you done academic renewal to remove those Fs? If not, correct, they will average the grades.

It’s in the sidebar:

“If I repeated a course, should I list it twice?
Yes. List the courses you took and grades you earned for each term, even if you repeated them or plan to repeat them.”

When you repeat a course, that university can remove the grade from THEIR transcript BUT when you apply anywhere else, you must list BOTH attempts. Sorry man, you need to wait 2 yrs for academic renewal.

The classes I received an F in were taken a little over 2 years ago. I just recently retook them at a different CC. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to update them at the CC that I actually failed those classes.
Thus, I have 2 F’s at the CC that I originally took those classes and I have 2 A’s at the current community college that I am transferring from.
I don’t see why they would reject my academic renewal?

It won’t matter if the school changed their grades. You will still have to list both grades on your application UNLESS you do academic renewal. You need to file for academic renewal asap so it wipes the grade clean from your record. (except for privates which don’t care) So file for academic renewal asap

When I am inputting a D grade for a CSU SDSU application, do I count it as 3 units completed or 0 units completed. Is a D a passing grade when computing units attempted/units completed

My last question is for the section:
“All transferable undergraduate college work: GPA”

It says all transferable undergraduate college work. Does that mean I don’t have to put in for example math 116 or college study skills. Those two classes are not CSU transferable; however, I was told by many people on here that I put every school course that I have taken in college whether CSU transferrable or not…

They should have general guidelines for these applications like the Fed Gov does for tax forms :O

On the UC application, you must put ALL of your coursework and the UC application automatically sorts it into transferable and non-transferable and gives you three GPAs: assist-certified (transferable), non-assist certified (non-transferable), and total.

On the CSU applications, you put your cumulative GPA for each individual college. This is the section that you must include ALL of your classes. Then you put your transfer GPA at the bottom underneath where you have listed your colleges. You can find a list of transferable CSU classes on assist.org.
