I was lazy to find the writing questions thread so i'm just making one. These are the only two wrong questions i had on the practice writing SAT test so i'm elated about that but that also makes me equally bitter, for i was only two questions away from an 800.

Paule Marshall, whose Barbadian background (has influenced) her writing, (describes) many details of life in the Caribbean Islands (vividly) in her novels and short stories.

I picked B(has influenced) because it seemed wrong but the answer is E(No error). Can someone thoroughly explain why it's right.

In (those cities) (in which) public transportation is adequate, fewer traffic problems occur and pedestrians (are rarely) (involved in) accidents.

I again picked B(in which), thinking that it should be "where" because it's talking about a place. Can someone explain why E is the answer also the rule on where vs in which thoroughly.

Thanks in advance.
