200+ in two weeks, intense training

Hey everyone,

I am taking the sat in exactly two weeks. I started skimming over the PR book and I just got the SAT blue book last night. Today, I took my first SAT. I didn’t do very well ( for my standards ), but then again, I haven’t prepared very well yet.

I got a 1840:
600 Critical Reading
640 Math
600 Writing
no idea about the essay???

My goal for this may sat in less than 14 days is to score at least a 2000. I know that it will be difficult as usually a 200+ point increase follows months of practice. However, I’m willing to spend 2+ hours a day and more on Saturdays and Sundays (just one of each left) to get to where I want to be.

Can it be done? Am I deluding myself? Should I just study over the summer and just bleh this SAT?

I really want to get it done now. I know I have time on my hands for 2+ hours a day, perhaps 1 sat every three days and one on sat and sun.

I will be using the strategies in the PR book because so far it’s helped. Th Joe Bloggs principle is very cool. I will also use the blue book, mainly for the tests and the drills and such.

Has this been done? If so, give me some advice. I’m aiming for colleges like Tufts, BC, BU, and Northeastern.

Even a 2040 SAT would make Tufts a reach and Northeastern and BC low reaches.

I most probably will retake the SAT in October if it doesn’t turn out satisfactorily. My question is, is it worth the hassle of studying hard for it in the next two weeks? I doubt my scores in May will superscore any in October.

With an 1840 you can save the application fees to those schools. You may get admitted to BU CGS but the rest are out of reach.

It doesn’t answer my question: I don’t have an 1840, it was just practice. I’m aiming for a higher score. I know I am capable, it’s just a matter of being good at taking the SAT.

The question is how I can best increase my score given two weeks and starting at 1840

bump

Why not take the June SAT? I feel that you are not allowing yourself enough time to ‘cram’.

I am taking subject tests then. Also, I know what I am capable of intellectually, it’s just that to do well on the SAT requires me to be good at taking the SAT.
