2000 SAT, 3.25 GPA: Please chance me and give advice!

I go to a public high school in Arkansas with about 600 kids graduating in my class.

-Grades-

Unweighted GPA: 3.07
Weighted GPA: 3.23

I've also taken honors math classes my entire high school career.

-SAT-

Reading- 640

Combined: 2020

-EC's-

Member of Philosophy club (no positions available in this club)

Member of Political Discussion club (didn't hold any positions)

Member of ping pong club (there were over 200 kids in this club; I didn't hold any positions)

I played baseball for my high school team from 9th to 11th grade, but couldn't play this year due to injuries

I spend a lot of time taking care of my special needs little brother, which prevented me from getting a job and having other EC's

-Essay-

Assume I write a very above average essay

-Other-

I plan on concurrently taking Calculus and either a Physics or Philosophy class at the University of Arkansas in the spring.

Here are the colleges I'm thinking about applying to:

-Tulane University
-Saint Louis University
-Hendrix College
-University of Arkansas
-Grinnell College
-Furman University
-Wesleyan University (in Middletown)
-Boston College
-Boston University
-Rhodes College

Hendrix College is my safety (the University of Arkansas is my safety-safety). I think I should have a reasonable shot at Tulane, Saint Louis University, Boston College, Boston University, and Rhodes College.

My big reaches are Wesleyan, Grinnell College, and Furman University.

I will likely apply early decision to either Wesleyan or Grinnell College to increase my chances for both: which should I choose?

What do you guys think my chances are for the colleges I listed?

Thanks

That's a pretty low GPA for selective colleges. Do you have an upward trend? Any mitigating circumstances?

I know. It's incredibly low.

9th grade- decent
10th grade- worse
11th grade- better
12th grade- better

So there is an upward trend (albeit slight).

And no, my GPA is all my fault. I was lazy...

Anyone??

......

................................

I think your grades will keep you out of Grinnell, Wesleyan, and B.C. You might have a chance at some of the others because of your good SAT.

Agree with greennblue. Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply.

I read that Grinnell has a 78% early decision acceptance rate. So if I early decision there, do think I would still have an incredibly low chance due to my GPA, or do you think it's worth the shot?

And when you say,"You might have a chance at some..." do mean that, if I apply to all of them (Furman, Tulane, SLU, and BU...in addition to the unlikelies: Wesleyan, Grinnell, and BC) I should get into at least one and maybe two? Or do you think my chances are lower than that?

.........bmp

pmub
bump
upbm
mubp

you'll probably get into most of those colleges, bc and furman might be the only schools that may even consider rejecting you..you shouldnt even attend those others lol
