2005 Document Based Question

What do you think will be this year's DBQ for the AP American History exam?

No one really has a clue yet, but I think it might have something to do with Black History, African American civil rights, evolution of their freedom from colonial times to maybe the civil war or now..something along those lines. What do you all think? I'm totally guessing, I didn't do any 'analysis' of previous DBQs or anything, but I know they never really had one on slavery. I hope they do though, because slavery isn't really difficult to discuss.

well it might totally hurt to guess. but it's certainly not pre-revolutionary era so that helps.

My teacher said women's rights in the 40's or the manifest destiny thing.

I predicted it pretty accurately last year to the approximately decade.

I feel a Cold War question and World War II could be up again.
Pre-Civ and Civil War era is another good possibility. They haven't done that in quite a while.
The 1700s are almost guaranteed not to be up again. Maybe post-rev era, but unlikely.
And since pre-revolutionary era is only 1/6 of the curriculum, it probably won't show up.
Early 1800s prior to Civil War are unlikely to show up too as well as the 1900s-1930s.

Women's right is such a small topic in the context of APUSH that it seems unlikely. Manifest Destiny sounds somewhat possible as a topic, possibly in relation to imperialism of the 1890s,1900s.

I don't know. It was the DBQ for 1997 about women's rights in 1910's and 20's

My teacher said he wouldn't be surprised if it was about Indian policy; and Jacksonian stuff comes up ALL the time if you look at all the past questions, so that might be it too...

My teacher said it might be about the Cold War, or something really modern, like Nixon or Reagan.

ok, so the whole point is everyone's guessing.

It's not a really big deal though if you don't know the time period. If you study everything in general and read the documents, you should have a pretty good idea of what to write about. I'm more worried about the essays because you HAVE to know SOMETHING or you're completely screwed.

well...my teacher said progressives...just because it's never appeared before and it would follow the Economic-Social-Political pattern..SOMETHING like that...i don't remember

oohh and for the free response..maybe vietnam? since it is the 30-year anniversary..meaning adequate time has passed to look at it objectively? (personally..i think 50 years is better)

not progressives. it was on form b a couple years ago.
