<p>There is no finalist stage. The Presidential Scholars are chosen from the semifinalists and should be announced within the next few days.</p>

<p>If your highest SAT or ACT scores make you one of the top 20 males or top 20 females in your state, you are invited to apply mid-way through your senior year of high school. Or, you can be a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, which has a different application process.</p>

<p>Not so much a scam as a waste of money. They're not lying about anything, but it's not an honor.</p>

<p>what score do you think will qualify you for the new sats?</p>
<p>ronlivs: I have no idea, but being nominated depends on where you live (what state) and male and female scores within that state. Try to find what that was for your state this year, and that will tell you something. Mostly, though, you have to get fairly close to a perfect score to qualify.</p>

<p>that's odd that your friend in texas found out on 4/28. I got the fedex package yesterday, but it was mailed priority overnight on 5/2. you'd think they'd all do it on the same day...anyway, the list is out now.</p>
