Which thread? I tried a search but nothing like that came up. Maybe I am using the wrong search terms

Traveling - see the thread on the first page of the MT forum called "just out of curiosity". On down in that thread there is discussion about your exact question.

Yeah, I posed that question as well and I now know of about for schools that I can audition first and then apply. I's a good deal.

Does anyone have the Tisch audition dates yet?

Tisch doesn't have specific audition dates that are published to my knowledge. In the past, when they held auditions for advanced dancers, those dates were set (they are not doing those this year). For ED candidates, the auditions are held throughout the month of November. Audition appointments can be made starting tomorrow, Oct. 1. For RD candidates, the auditions are held throughout the month of Feb. and Tisch starts taking appointments as of Nov. 1. For either RD or ED, it is important to call or use an online form (either method) as soon as appointments start getting made, or otherwise you may not get your optimal choice. I hope that helps.

Thank you!

haha, that would explain why I couldn't find anything on their website but dance audition dates.

Soozie - I am confused as to whether NYU needs an application in their hands prior to booking an audition date. I have been concentrating on other audition dates for the schools that have them available now, so don't how this works. Thanks for your help as always!

I'm not Soozie, but I'd also love an answer to this question. My d has most of her application materials in to NYU, but I do not believe that NYU requires any sort of application on file before you can sign up for the audition. I've read everything on their website, and also in an instruction pamphlet that was sent, and I saw nothing about filing first. So I think you can just call or sign up on-line by Oct. 1 for ED or Nov.1 for regular decision.

I hope I'm right. Good luck with everything this year.

Manuelo

Dancermom and Manuelo...NYU doesn't require any applications or paperwork to be filed to schedule an audition. You can schedule by phone or online starting on either Oct. 1 for ED or Nov. 1 for RD (my advice is to call or do the online form the first day it is allowed to get your first choice of dates available). I know how confusing it is. Some schools you can call to make an audition appointment now without any app going in. Some only let you line it up online. Others require a form to be mailed in. Several others require an application to be filed first. Still others require an app and then an invitation to audition. So.....ladies....you gotta be a SECRETARY, LOL....truly set up master spreadsheets and charts to record all this information about each school.

With NYU, however, you still gotta send your application by the app deadline. It has no bearing on the appointment making but just making sure you know that you still have to pay attention to the application getting in on time with all the required materials.

Anyway that's the scoop on NYU. Let me know if any other questions.

The Oct 1st and Nov 1st dates are only for NYU on campus auditions??? Did I read somewhere that Unified scheduling begins Dec 1st?

Thanks. :)

CA Griffin, you are correct. Last year the NYU auditions for all cities other than NYC could be scheduled beginning Dec. 1. These included cities where unified auditions are held and also other cities, such as Houston and Atlanta, I believe.

In addition, for the above question, last year I believe the application was due 1/15. My son scheduled an audition on 12/1 but waited to apply until closer to the due date. This audition was one of the ones he canceled after having some favorite school offers in Dec. He never ended up sending NYU an application.

Thank you soozie, manuelo, and Ericsmom for further clarification of what is devilishly difficult to track down, especially looking at so many schools with such different requirements.
Now, has anyone else had trouble getting their Common app. for NYU verified? i believe I have paid for it twice, have called four times to confirm, and still no record after 2 weeks. Hmmm.
Am I stuck in "MT college applications, the soap opera" (lol)? Sorry, I have a weird sense of humor, when I get stuck on something, I always think there is a musical number waiting in the wings to instantly transform my pain into something sublime:-).

Yes folks, I believe we could have the next Broadway show on our hands......and all our kids as stars.....Let's see...

..we need a lyricist - wait that's us- who knows better how to write lyrics to what we are going through!
..someone to write the score ....who volunteers?
..a book writer ...bet we could do that one too- endlesss hours of coordinating paperwork, taking notes, filing, spreadsheets, phone calls etc etc!

....I smell millions in profits..or is that my toast burning????
:)

A little Sunday humor!
MikksMom

I nominate Fishbowl for writing the book, and Mikksmom, you seem organized - you can do all the messy stuff. Maybe Wallyworld will assist?

Monty Python comes to mind...st like "Applyalot?"
Hmm next we need a plot, then funding....hmmm..lots of funding...
But, I bet we have a great cast right under our roofs!
