Common Application is out, but what about Stanford? I probably won't start writing the essays, but I like to keep them in mind as early as possible.

Thanks

Stanford doesn't use the common app, if I remember correctly?

I've heard that for the past several years, the photo essay (11a on last year's application) has remained the same while the second long essay has changed. I don't know about the short essays, but I remember finding past short answer essays online that had the same prompt, so those might be used for multiple years at a time.

yeah stanford doesnt use the common app. i think their app will come out towards the end of august.

u can probably count on that picture essay being on it

You don't really need to know the prompt to start thinking about the essay. The essays at Stanford are usually very open. I don't think there have been any very specific questions like "design a car without wheels" or "write a thesis about global warming and support it". Just start thinking about yourself and brainstorm things about you and things you enjoy. Make a list of unique things about yourself, and think of interesting things that have happened to you.

I'm on the Stanford mailing list, and I just got an e-mail a couple days ago that said that their online application will be online August 1st, and that the paper application will be mailed to those who requested it in early August. So you only have to wait a few more weeks.
