2006 FAFSA/Profile

Hey,

Does anyone have any advice/knowledge on how to complete a CSS Profile or FAFSA if you are still lacking your parents' tax returns? To make a long story short, my dad's business declared bankruptcy and "it's going to be awhile" before we get our 2005 tax returns.

I've heard about estimating figures, etc, but don't know if this is acceptable practice.

Also, I am applying to USC and they need our 2005 tax returns - I suppose simply typing up a cover letter explaining the circumstances and sending in the 2004 returns would be acceptable?

Thanks.

You can fill out FAFSA using estimates. You don't need the real thing yet. You will need to update the FAFSA when the taxes are complete

Call your school(s) and ask.
Our son's schools would accept estimates on FAFSA and even Profile though they prefer the actual numbers.
Don't miss the deadlines!

Estamate. Meet the deadline. Then make the corrections online later.
