i've only recieved an email confirming my online application account w/a pin # and password, and a blue postcard that reads "we have received your application to PENN. You are reminded that the responsibility rests with you for have (such and such tests)... If any documents are missing from your application, you will receive a follow-up postcard or email by...mid-May for Transfer applicants...Please include your full name...(da da da da) when writing or sending supplemental application materials" ...... should I still bother calling them about a confirmation letter with a login/pw?

nvrmnd ... my confirmation just arrived @ my home address =)

does everyone's letter begin with "Congratulations, we have very exciting news for you" or something like that?
I feel like it's really misleading and badly planned/written.

hrm we all go to NYU (sunscorch augie and me).. interesting.

haha, didn't even realize that :-P
well, here's to going to a large urban school with a REAL campus.

at least your school is in a city :P mine is in the wonderful colonial town of Williamsburg

o, I think I realized that quite awhile ago (no offense). it seems like a lot of pple @ nyu want to transfer =( and it's really not THAT bad of a school ... but i can see y many pple don't think it's 'worth' it (financially and because it is, sadly, over rated).

I don't think it's overrated at all; Academically, the professors I've had have all impressed me. For people who want to dive into the NYC environment, NYU is great. However, if you want a comfortable campus community that is nurturing (whereas NYU is very down-to-business), NYU isn't quite right.

augie, I do agree: the letter seems very misleading. to say that our option to find our admissions decision online is "exciting news" is extremely poorly worded. and to cite the procedures of how we can acess information on our financial aid is even more misleading. then, they close saying that they look forward to viewing our application, when, most likely, they've already viewed it. so it kind of gets your hopes up, only to confuse your emotions at the end... sigh... all these games!!! =)

really? looking back, all my profs have also been great. I just wish that Stern would allow more of its students to get into what they want to do, business (no pun intended). i think all my friends would agree as well. okay, i think i've posted way too much tonight. going back to studying for finals.

SunScorch, I recieved that same letter in January. Penn must have just processed your application.

Hey everyone, I'm kinda new to this forum (or maybe I'm not...apparently I registered my e-mail address some time ago, but forgot) and I'm applying to Penn's SAS as a transfer.

I'm a freshman at NYU (like a good number of people here...), but I think the thing that's going to kill me is my SAT score: 730M/660V--don't know what happened there..i was one of those kids in high school who won math competitions, got a 5 on BC Calc and got As in math classes. weird.

here're the rest of my stats:
College GPA: 4.0 1st / 3.9 2nd
SAT I: 730/660
SAT II: 800 IIc / 790 Writing / 760 Bio
High School GPA: 4.1-ish? 40/365 rank
EC: Intership with a LASIK surgeon and wrote an 80 page book on eye surgery with him, which I sent to Penn
Eagle Scout
one of those AP Scholars and National Merit Commended things

Anyone think I have a remote shot?

In any case, good luck to you all, except you NYU people (just kidding!)...I have a bunch of friends there who told me that last year's transfer class had ~10 NYU kids. Hopefully I'll see you all in the Fall!

WHY DO PEOPLE NOT LIKE NYU?! Is it not the experience of NYC you expect?

Uhh...too many people with higher GPA's than me!!!

BECAUSE NYU is horrible. NYU was my 1st choice from 9-11th grade and then I moved to NY and I just started kind of hating it. The school it self seems to be very impersonal due to the high number of students and the NYer attitude and the students are generally ******. Dont get me wrong, I have a lot of friends that go there and I've been to many fun parties there, but I still dont see any thing special with the school.

btw I got my Penn PIN in the mail just last Friday. I thought it was a rejection letter because it was so thin :(

For me, at least, it is the lack of community amongst the students; people are so spread out, both physically and academically, and there are so many people that you have to work hard to find a place to fit in.

Well so far I got accepted to NYU and Georgetown (waiting on UPenn, Brown, Columbia). NYU wants a decision by this wednesday...I'm thinking I should just let it pass because Georgetown seems like the better school. Not to get away from the purpose of this thread, but how would you guys compare NYU to GTown?

Stop applying to the same schools as me.

In most cases, Georgetown is the better choice.
