whether I get accepted or not,
I just wanna know by this Friday!!! period!!!
June 2nd would be a TORTURE for me~!!

I tried calling the office today; the guy who answered at the transfer office said it was rolling - even after I asked him whether or not they were releasing decisions in batches.

He might be lying though.

Although their decisions are rolling, they admit to have had an initial review of all applications so decisions are most likely not made in a random order.

i don't understand this notification process of penn.

I just called the admissions office, and the guy said that while decisions will be made until the end of May, the majority of decisions have already been made.

I dont get that. Why would the majority of decisions be made and withheld? Did they tell you anything else?

Nope, that's all.

You have to remember that only like 200 students get admitted into the college through the transfer route and perhaps only like 300 students or so get accepted. Although that's a lot for an ivy league school, it's not a very large number

What Penn is doing is making no sense at all. It clearly isn't a real "rolling" admission, Ivy League schools do not do that. This isn't a huge state school we're talking about, it's Penn. They want to evaluate all of their applicants before making a decision--no preference is given to those who applied two months in advance.

They have had since the end of March (when Freshman decisions were made) to make decisions for transfer applicants. They're capable of doing about 20,000 applicants in 4 months, what's 1500-2000 applicants in 6 weeks?

They aren't evaluating by each section of the university, either. They're not just sending Wharton letters out, then CAS, then SEAS, etc. It's all random.

So what's the point, Penn? If you have most of the decisions made, just SEND THEM ALREADY.

**Frustrated. Puck Fenn. They are so disorganized. Columbia had a website to let you know if you were missing materials. Why did Penn decide that they'd wait until MAY to tell you if you were missing something (when in fact, many of us weren't, and THEY just screwed up)?

Is it be fathomable that Penn has notified all accepted students and is keeping the rest in limbo for two weeks until they know who of the accepted students is attending? That way they'd be able to fill those spots which some acceptees declined with students whom they've kept in the dark.

Sod, that is not the case. they said all decisions would be out by the last day of may and i assume the responde date for accepted students is in june i could be wrong though. either way, a friend of mine called today and was told they were in committee, also several people got accepted in the second wave last year. This process is awful

i will only consider penn admissions process to be awful if i get rejected :P

I need to tell NYU i am going there by the 25th of May, Penn BU or BC could sway that decision. Penn already said i should ask for an extension which i did and they said by may 25th at the very latest. Should i wait until this friday to see if i got anything or call and ask them now to see if i can be in the next wave for sure? any advice.. sorry i'm spazzing. i just got rejected from BU because they said they haven't received my HS transcript and I know i sent it and they told me everything was complete and then i get rejected... they said if i send it soon they'll reconsider me, but i need to know by the 25th... sorry i'm just frustrated by how unorgainzed schools can be

bumpppp.. since penn should always be on top.. hehe.

The response date is three weeks from the date your letter is mailed to you...so those hearing last Friday had a letter technically dated May 11th and much respond by the end of May, those who hear May 19th will have 3 weeks, etc.

if i get an acceptance, i will pay my deposit in a matter of 5 minutes. 3 weeks? yeah right. actually, i would do it in a matter of seconds, but i would need time for it all to soak in and somewhat celebrate.

the admissions officers at PENN are bunch of LIARS!!!

callmesoccer, to what are you referring? and it is not the admission officers, since they are impossible to talk to if you are a transfer, but that same one guy who seems to answer the phone anytime you call and whose job seems to be to get you off the phone as quickly as possible

well... I'm refering to whoever wrote on the transfer admission's guide that the decisions would be out by early May...
and also, whoever posted that the decisions would be out by May 11th... well... not even half the decisions were out, according to the guy on the phone.......

didn't someone say they called and penn said the majority of decisions have been released? But then again, someone else said they called and were told that only a select few would be released last week. Either way, I am thinking that most people who will ultimately get in will hear this week. i wish there was just a way to get more definitive answers. All i know is that last year several kids heard on this upcoming wednesday. Maybe someone will call tomorrow and see what they are saying. I also wish more kids would post their rejections, I know it is not a fun thing to do but this board is to help share information and a lot of people just dissapear. If there had been more rejections last week, I would have felt a little better about not being included last week.
