Okay guys, let's be objective about this and our chances. As objective as we can that is, which is not very objective.

How exactly did the three batch process go in previous years?

I think I remember someone saying first batch was high admit rate, second batch was medium admit rate, third batch was rejects? If this is the case, then they are not doing things this year as they are doing last year.

hey guys, i've been following this thread but haven't posted, i'm still waiting for a decision too. i was accepted to vandy, chicago, and cornell, waitlisted at dartmouth, rejected brown and stanford,
SATs: 1430/700/700/630
College GPA: 3.9
good luck everyone i don't think third batch is all rejects, we all have a good shot yet

Here's how housing works: It's not guaranteed, but they make every effort to get you a spot - I haven't heard of people NOT getting housing.

You sign up for the dorms/room types you'd like (not sure how many are allowed in total) and then you submit the info to housing - they get back to you with a room.

Note to people choosing housing: The high rises are all apartments, so you won't have much interaction with the other people on your floor. A number of the dorms are predominantly frosh, so bear that in mind (#'s by class year are listed in the housing info, so you'll know which are mostly freshman).

Also - most upperclassmen do end up living in off campus housing, bordering right on the campus, so it's a very viable option and despite what you may have been told, housing around campus is quite safe, esp. since Penn has put a security person on literally every street corner now.

It doesn't look like they are going about this year the same as last. I was the one who noticed that last year the later you heard, the less your chance of acceptance was. Only one kid posted an acceptance from the third batch. I was planning to call them today, unfortunately I slept until they were out of the office on east coast time.

As for me- top 20 lac- 4.0 First semester, mid-term report with A,A-,A-, and a grade that was not available until the end of the grading period.
Student Government, Newspaper, etc.
HS: 3.4 gpa
Retook SAT for 1450+

What did last years second batch look like?

I called today; I spoke to a lady who was willing to atleast entertain my questions for a good 5 minutes, but she wouldn't budge in letting me speak to someone official. She said not to count on hearing before the 2nd, and that the 2nd is the "target date" which could mean they will run even after that. She said the reason it takes so long is because they only meet on certain dates when everyone can get together and that some officers are out of the country for other things. I am still giving Penn the benefit of hope, they have to feel some sort of responsibility towards applicants; a large batch came out last year on the 24th which was before the date they were giving people at the time. The reason I like Penn is because they are soulless in their attempt to really drive home the message that we apparently need them more than they need us.

You guys are analyzing this way too much imo, just chill out

Nah you are right. But i got rejected from Harvard, Cornell, Brown, and Columbia. The fact that I didn't get an outright rejection from Penn---I want to get to the bottom of this, you know?
