2006 Indoc

JRH thanks for that site. Makes things much easier.

Just thought I would pass along what my 1/c son said tonight on AIM. He said 'They have it easy,' referring to the candidates. I know from past conversations, it seems that KP alumni love to compare their INDOC experiences and argue which years had the worst stuff to do. Soon, INDOC will be a memory. Am looking forward to seeing the postings after the phone calls home. You don't want to say, 'I had to run out to the store for a minute' and miss that call. Be home. Be there. Keep the line open.
By the way, my son's roomie is one of the photographers, so I took the liberty of passing along the compliments on the photos. I am hoping to get a bonus shot of my son on the Waterfront!

Received a letter from our son in 2nd company and he said although "life in Indoc is not for the faint of heart" he's actually happy! Said he has a great roommate too! He did comment that one of the other kids left the platoon after two days. I know I've read that it's tough to drop out during Indoc so I'll be curious to see if he ends up staying or not. The letter was all of two small paragraphs and he said it took him two days to write it and another day to get it mailed. Just great to hear from him.

He didn't give us much more info on why/how this candidate left and as far as it being hot...this is a kid that would sleep with his windows closed and under blankets in a steamy room!

what she means is that the kid left the school, not just the platoon or company, but hes gone for good. and by the way, there are two platoons per company for indoc this year, which is different than every other year where there used to be no platoons at all and just a company.

Oy you aint whistling dixie! :D

its a brother thang. :D
Hey you new parents: Saw your kids for about an hour yesterday. Uh WOW. You wouldn't believe how well they are doing. They may tell you otherwise with that phone call today but trust me, they are ok. Gotta run but will post more when I get back tonight. Gotta catch the train to a Yankees game with my mids! Pretzels & cheese, pop corn, beer! Weeee!

Good for you Putz brother!
Our son's two brothers and sister are also wondering how he is doing. Not knowing may be even tougher on siblings than on parents. The siblings want him to hang in there.

By the way, Bossf51 and Jamzmom, where did you get your emoticons?

Does anyone know what happened to the usmma website?

Was just going to ask if anyone else was having a problem getting on. I have tried all morning without any luck. Hope its up and running soon, am anxious to see any new pictures.

Atl you have to do em manually

Colon, Capital D = :D

just got on no pix yet

I learned that it pays to look at every company's pix rather than just my son's company if I want a better idea of what is happening. The candidates apparently go through many more activities each day than an individual company's photos reflect because the photographers cannot be everywhere at once.

These Mids are trying to kill me. They've drug me all over the place for two days. I've locked them out of my hotel room for an hour until its time to feed them again. They're like baby birds that have to eat every hour on the hour. So, I was trying to tell you guys about the candidates before I was drug away earlier. I saw the Jamz posted about the sick chits. I did see three or four kids from each company hanging back due to injuries. Watched them form up for a lunch muster yesterday. Talk about looking sharp. There was no question that they knew exactly what to do. Calling out jodie calls at the top of their lungs while marching. They were loud! Count on them being hoarse for the phone call. :) They looked hot & tired but on the money with the things they are learning. I saw a few smiles here & there from some of them while they were getting into formations. 2nd company looked like they'd been in classes while 4th seemed to be coming from the pool as they had towels. Its so hot here so that had to be the better place to be. Some were in small groups sitting under trees in the shade while the D.I.'s were speaking with them. Looked relatively calm. Just thought you'd like a report from some eyes that were looking about here & there. They looked really good. Take heart that they are being looked after. I didn't see any kids dangling upside down from the flag pole. :D

A very nice set of pictures from the past two days have just arrived on the parents web site. You will notice a very nice new picture format, which does an automatic full page slide show now. I think the other parents will see that this is a much needed improvement. Some great sailing shots taken from the small Coast Guard type power boat. These photographers are becoming professionals! Great Job.

Photos are well done but I am having trouble copying these and ordering photos the files are not being accepted for digital online orders and the others were, any suggestions?

kp2010mom&dad, I also have problems copying pictures when the format changes. However, with these pics I can right-click, then "Save as" will save the photo in My Pictures (we have Windows xp). Also, once you enter the slideshow, you have the option of filmstrip or preview formats. Try one of these. For me, the pictures save most clearly if I open them to full size, then "Save as." Hope that helps!
