Umm, if we could just jump back to Cornell for a second:

does anyone know the acceptance rate of the college of human ecology at cornell? Either freshman or transfer?

Thnx

does anyone know the acceptance rate of the college of human ecology at cornell? Either freshman or transfer?

Thnx

yes, since there's always so much discussion about the transfer rates of individual colleges at Cornell, I'll post them as well:

CALS - 50.9%
Architecture - 22.1%
Arts and Sciences - 7.8%
Engineering - 31.3%
Hotel - 25.3%
Human Ecology - 43.2%
ILR - 52.5%

In other words, don't apply to CAS and you'll probably get to go to Cornell. ;)

Here's the link to that data sheet: http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000156.pdf

Even if you apply to CAS they are supposed to look at your second choice major at another college you put on the supplement.

Yep. Cornell is great in that sense and one of the only selective universities I know of that gives students a second chance.

hey thanx for all the great info brand_182 :)

no problem good luck with HE.

why did I have to apply to CAS at Cornell? ahh

those rates mean nothing for cornell. If you got what it takes, you're in. Even though CALS or ILR have pretty high acceptance rates, they do reject people if they dont have what it takes. And what i mean by that is, if you dont have passion for your major, dont have the right pre-reqs or do not match their school, you wont get in.

Cornell's acceptance rate is deceiving for a few reasons.

Cornell waitlists a lot of people and then offers some of them "guaranteed admission on a deferred basis". This means if they get a certain GPA (usually 3.4) at a different school after two years then they are guaranteed admission if they transfer to Cornell. You can read about this if you go to the Cornell thread here on CC.

The true acceptance rate for transfers is about 15% once you take out the guaranteed transfers.

Also, the Applied Econ & Management school is not the toughest to get into as a transfer, but it's a lot lower than you would think from the statistics the school puts out. The lowest rates are at Arts & Sciences and then the Architecture school. AEM is weird, however--I think the true accept rate is about 19%--but that's not counting reducing it by the Guaranteed Transfers I already mentioned. (they don't give stats on this by schools). The stats given above by brand_182 for the Agriculture and Life Sciences (of which AEM is a part) shows a 50% acceptance rate--but the acceptance rate to the Agriculture portion of this school is about 80%--leaving AEM for non-agricultural majors at the lower rate.

We have addressed that earlier. The rates given on that stats page exclude Guaranteed Transfers (special students).

Anyone know what Rollins College is?

Regarding "deceiving" acceptance rates (such as Cornell's), does anyone know if Georgetown's School of Foreign Service acceptance rate is lower than the given figure of 24%, or about the same?

Nspeds, a Gtown student, said it was in the teens.

I dont know if this was adressed but brown's CDS said 2005-2006 transfer rate was around 24 percent. why the 3% on the main page?

The numbers above are for the 2006-2007 school year (last year).

2005-2006 is two school years ago.

Those of us applying for transfer in the fall right now are applying for the 2007-2008 school year, so these transfer rates (coming up) will be for that CDS.

Harvard is cutting back on the number of transfers they take considerably, and that number will be less than half of that starting next year.

* from the article * : While Gross said that the number of transfer admittances would be cut in half for the 2007–2008 academic year, he did not expect the number to drop further in following years.

its starting THIS year.

wow, a 21% drop. I need to see this years

Do anybody know the NYU stern transfer rate?

Given that the top tier NA and LAC college transfer rates are so dismal, could you please post the same for the second tier NA nad LAC ?
