Super congratulations to srm17 and padfoot. Wow!

How exactly do you call in? Is it a recording or a real person?

OH MY GOSH I GOT IN. I do not know how this happened, but I feel so much better now. I couldn't wait for the mail so I called. It took awhile to get through but once i did they put me on hold and then it was a real person. I just started crying a lot and the woman was laughing. Good luck everyone! I can't wait to see who all will be going too!

Deferred in MA, oh well, onto my other apps!

I GOT IN!!!!!!
i can't belive it
I called. I had too. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

S got in!!!!! Recd mail today in NYC!

The mail has arrived in Georgia, and nothing in it from Georgetown. Apparently, all other EA/ED schools got the word to their applicants on Friday. Is this a taste of things to come from Georgetown?

I got in to the FLL! Called today from Oregon; the mail hasn't come yet so I don't know if the letters have reached the West Coast.

gadad:
Call, if you or your kid would like. We're still waiting for mail delivery today a little further up the coast than you (assuming you're in Georgia); kid's sked is packed today, so if nothing's in the mail, I suspect she'll just wait another day.
The wait would be easier without facing the delay of visiting teachers who wrote recommendations to update them before the holidays. Hearing from friends about other deferrals big and small has helped D put things in perspective.

...and one more note: I think Elon applicants are still waiting. Vanderbilt applicants are still waiting (I think). Some other people are still on pins and needles, not just G-town.

Decision: deferred from msb :(
Stats:
* SAT: 2230 (780 M, 790 W, 660 CR)
* SAT IIs: Math 2 (740), Bio E (680), US (540...eek). also took French and Lit in December
* GPA: 3.7something unweighted, 4.5 weighted
* Rank: we don't rank, but i'd estimate at least top 10%
* Other stats: in a math/science magnet. i've taken 10 ap classes in hs, most of the rest are honors. the only non-honors classes i've taken are art/drama classes, but only because i actually wanted to be in them (not just as a joke class)

Subjective:
* Essays: both really good. i didn't specifically talk about gtown in either of them though.
* Teacher Rec: really good
* Counselor Rec: should have been good
* Hook (if any): 360+ hr research project in object permanence in dogs, art display case at local museum, (kind of) have a business....i make a bunch of crafty kind of things and sell them to local boutiques/at art fairs/etc.

Location/Person:
* State or Country: ky
* School Type: suburban public, houses a magnet program
* Ethnicity: white
* Gender: f

*Extracurriculars: some stated in my hook, but i've also been playing piano since kindergarten, i've done over 300 hrs of volunteer work (nearly 200 at local hospital), i'm a children's liturgy leader at my catholic church, i'm president of french honor society, in a bunch of other clubs

*Other Factors: my number one school :(
*ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: hmm i kind of thought i'd get in. i'm really upset, but i guess i can't really change anything til april.

accepted in puerto rico!!! I called, couldn't wait anymore. they put on an admission officer...and I cried during the whole conversation.

Accepted in Connecticut!

Decision: ACCEPTED to McDonough

Stats:

SAT: 2270

SAT IIs: 760 - US History, 740 - Biology E, 720 - Math II C

GPA: 3.800 UW

Rank: 19/735 (top 2.5%)

Other stats:

Subjective:

Essays: The biggest pride and joy of my application. Very good if I may so so myself.

Teacher Recs: Decent.

Location/Person:

State or Country: San Diego, CA, USA

*Extracurriculars: Gymnast (16 hours/week, state titles,etc), Senior Class President, Ecology Club President. I only wrote those three. No FLUFF on my application, thank you very much. :D

*Other Factors: My Why Business essay was swell.

*ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Four people from my school applied to Georgetown EA!! I think two of us got in. My interview went real well...And, uh..IDK.

Oh yeah, I called in and a receptionist transferred me to some dude who said, 'Congratulations! Do you have any questions? You'll get your acceptance letter in a few days, etc..'

I replied, "No...I won't get it until 2008 because I will be on vacation until then." :p

Honestly, Georgetown is my bottom choice. Yet, I LOVE all the schools I applied to because I only picked six to apply to. No safeties, no randoms. Just six great schools. So, just getting into college ensures that I won't have to go begrudgingly anywhere. At least, that was my strategy.

Good Luck everyone else. :)

*Other Factors: It was my first choice but oh well.

Additional Comments: For those who got accepted, congrats, and for those who got deferred, don't worry, GTown got more apps this year than before and had to turn away a lot of brilliant candidates. It's not a reflection on your potential.

Gaaaahhhh, I'm at work and I live in CT, so I won't find out until around 9:00 tonight. Luckily all that's at stake is some pride: I know my essays were mediocre, I know that Georgetown's financial aid isn't that great, AND I already got into U of C... so I guess I shouldn't care. BUT I DO :-p I'll let you all know in about six hours...

~Ethan
