im from nj too & i got my mail & no letter at all!!! idk *** is goin onnn

i'm from new york.
mail came and i didn't get anything!
omgg the suspense is killing me..

ACCEPTED IN MAINE! I got my letter about 45 minutes ago...and, it came in a standard size envelope. When I saw the size of the envelope, I immediately thought deferral, but then I opened it and there were three different forms and my mom, who was hovering over my shoulder, screamed ACCEPTED! I'm going to be calling friends, relatives, and emailing teachers all day! Good luck to everyone else! I'll post stats later!

Congrats starbucksaddict!

"Hijacked" the mailman to get the mail early. Letter did not come (NJ).

^^^

Great, so I guess NJ will get the letter later?

my friend who lives in my town got her letter and got in...seems like the acceptances came today. great.

For the accepted EA applicants, congratulations. If you have any questions about campus life or academic or anything else that may influence your decision, I'd be more than happy to take them by PM or a separate thread. Again, congratulations, and I hope to see you on the Hilltop next year!

For the deferred applicants, never despair. If Georgetown is really your #1 choice, keep at it. Update the admissions committee on your progress. At the same time, reflect on your application a bit. Do you feel you missed something significant? Is there something big that you missed in submitting your application? I was deferred during the EA cycle, but was accepted in the end. It really comes down to a crapshoot in the end, but it's not entirely out of your hands.

P.S. Having worked for a Georgetown University office (and dealing with mailing services), I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the admissions committee sent out the letters all at once and they stagger in at different times. Letters to the same neighborhood in Washington D.C. have taken anywhere between 1 to 3 days.

Congrats starbucksaddict! Where in Maine are you? I didn't get my letter today :-/

The mail came and no letter! Getting anxious and nervous here in NYC.

Decision: ACCEPTED @ Georgetown College!

Subjective:

Essays: Excellent. One was about growing up in a rural area and how this environment has made me want to experience diversity. My other essay was about how my mom's Huntington's Disease inspired me to become a neurologist and how Georgetown can help me reach this goal.

Teacher Recs: AMAZING! I submitted two, one from my Latin teacher and one from my AP Bio teacher. My Latin teacher who is also my OM coach said I was the best Latin student he has had in 23 years of teaching, and I had my AP Bio teacher for both AP Bio and Honors Bio. I had attended a weeklong neuroscience workshop with her this summer, and she spoke about this in her recommendation.

Counselor Rec: Excellent. She is a first year counselor but I really got to know her and she told me that she checked all of the "one of the top few I encountered in my career" boxes on the rec form. She consulted my principal and teachers when writing my rec, and said that she received glowing feedback.

Hook (if any): Rural Maine public high school that hasn't sent anyone to Georgetown in years? Three season varsity athlete since freshman year? A clear standout in my high school?

Location/Person:

State or Country: Maine

School Type: Public
