2007 Early Action Results Thread

Is there anyway to get rid of the early action notification thread? it is so misleading because it is from last year and people keep posting on it thinking it is current. I think it is adding to everybody's anxiety level!

i just remembered that georgetown decision was supposed to come in today...

seems like im in the boat with the ppl who didnt get a decision.

ranima:
Agree. Sent a message to the admin. Hope it works. Sent me into a time warp earlier today before I had my caffeine.

So pretty much it was my first choice cause it's PERFECT you guys probably agree but the only thing I have to say is Don't feel down getting deferred, it was a record number of early apps and all those kids who wanted to apply to Harvard or Princeton early but couldn't applied to schools like Gtown so don't doubt yourself EVER and keep percevering cause you'll get into the school of your dreams by April :) Best of luck for all of you!!

I was wondering why the amount of applicants increased by so much and didn't even think about Harvard, Princeton and any other schools dropping their ED.

My mail didn't come either (I'm in Kansas), but we will find out when we find out. So everybody just be happy.

georgetownwanabe, I'm really, really, really sorry, but that's the best news I've heard today.

ny10804--totally with you on that. so sorry georgetownwanabe!!

guess i didnt have to stay home being sad all night. now i can wait til monday to be sad.

yeah I heard today and it took awhile to get over it, but I've been so preoccupied with all my regular app stuff I really haven't had much time to grieve :p It's really a waste of time and of your life to get down over one decision, so it's best to just swallow it down and move on :)

thanks for all your sorries, and I really hope you all guys get the good news!!

So I chased the mailman all over the neighborhood today, but alas, no letter…. I don’t think I can stand two more nights of this scary recurring dream I keep having, where rejection letters fill my room in a harry potter’s letter from hogwarts-esque fashion… flipping out in CT!!!

Their calendar says announcements today, but I still haven't gotten my answer. I don't care if I get deffered, I just want to know. I live like an hour from Gtown, how long could it take to send a letter. Hoping for Monday.

quick question. i sent in ALL my sat scores, which includes three terrible SAT II scores: 610 on Math I, 620 on physics, and 630 on Physics B. Im applying to the college with a poli sci major...do you think this is seriously going to hurt me? my SAT I is a 1500 and my other SAT IIs are 760 US history, 750 spanish, 740 literature. i was thinking since it doesnt pertain to my major it might not matter, but then again, its a good way to rule me out...

I agree, westwel. At this point, there's nothing we can do...it's come to the point where all we want to do is KNOW NOW!
Nothing in Indiana :(

i haven't gotten my letter yet either... central new jersey

shapeofhome- don't worry about it. remember, SAT scores can only do so much. once you hit a certain mark, everything else comes into play and extracurriculars and essays REALLY make the difference.

Lots of insecure kids in here. It's just a college. There are plenty of colleges.

-VAZ

Deferred.........

Not too worried though, SFS was incredibly competitive this year, which explains why all the other 3 kids from my school got in (they applied to College and McDonough)

Shapeofhome-- i am starting to think we have all the same stats. I was concerned about the same thing (I got a 610 on physics, 700 on lit, and 750 on spanish, but a 1550 on the SAT I). I'm applying to the sfs, so I was just hoping that they would see that physics isn't a strong point but everything else is okay. but yea, i guess thats the thing i'm most worried about. i seriously can't wait any longer!

oh my god, i just thought of something. i talked to a friend who is a sophomore at gtown yesterday and he said they were forecasted to get a lot of snow and that they might be out of classes on monday. in that case... the admissions office would probably be closed... and we couldn't call in for our decisions...

Vaz the students on this board are Georgetown-obsessed, but obsession does not equal insecurity, and it doesn't mean that they don't understand that there are other colleges out there. For many of the students on this board, like my daughter, Georgetown is a strong first choice. They've been picturing themselves at Georgetown for months and months now, and they've worked very hard to make that picture in their head come true. They've absolutely earned the right to obsess a bit (or a lot!), and I don't believe that the connection you're making between whether they're obsessing over Georgetown and whether they understand that there are other schools out there actually exists.

With Georgetown so slow to send out EA notifications lord knows the students on this board need all the coping mechanisms they can get :)

I'm sure your post was intended to be helpful and comforting, but I'm not sure you achieved what you intended....

im with you soproudofkids, im definitely one of those people that you're talking about, and i feel like i've been waiting foreverrr!! especially with one girl from my school getting her letter (acceptance) yesterday, it's been killing me!

shapeofhome & peacejoylove--im with you guys on those sat II scores! while my sat I scores leave something to be desired (1390/2190), my ACT scores (34) will hopefully make up for it! I took math II (790) US Historyy (660--sorta self studied: no ap u.s.) and French (600--not fluent at all in language, mistake?) but I'm not a big science person and cr was really what killed me on the SATs so I wasn't left with many choices! I'm really hoping that my straight As in a really competitive hs will help!! ahh, monday!
