man im so disappointed that i didnt get my letter in the mail yesterday. seeing all these kids on here knowing they got in or not kind of upsets me b/c i dnt no but i guess i dnt have much of a choice right now. ive just been on the edge of my seat for days. finals are next week and its gonna be pretty damn hard to concentrate on studying with this hanging over my head. i live in south florida so i hope it comes monday

i live in south florida too and was crushed when the mailman had nothing for me but a sears catalogue!

anyways, my friend got me hooked on this site and i have been addicted ever since....so i figured i'd make a login and confirm my neuroticism lol. i just want to say thanks to everyone on here, it's good to know there are others as obsessed with college as i am! if i were a georgetown admissions i'd accept you all :)

cheers to optimism!!

whoever said georgetown is supposed to get a snow storm lied to you lol. its supposed to be in the 40's all week with no precipitation.

wait are we allowed to call on monday ?

Yeah^^^^^^^^

does it say that somewhere on the website? what time can i call, as soon as the admissions office opens? (9:00 i believe)

I called em two days ago, they said we can call on the 17th for a decision.

Um very few people know (at least on this message board) if they got in or not. From what I have seen, one person has been deferred (page 2 or 3) and two or three people have been accepted. Also, in another thread, two internationals have been accepted.

So from these observations, I am able to ascertain that tomorrow is when the bulk of the decisions will arrive (regardless of whether or not you are accepted).

I could be wrong though but I hope not. I live in NJ and I didn't get a letter yesterday. I initially thought that that was because I was deferred and only the accepted people got their letters on Sat.

Anyone else agree?

^^agreed. I think 2 people got deferred and 3 people got accepted (not including people who mentioned friends).

I'm in NJ too. No letter, but one girl in my school got one and got accepted yesterday. I freaked out alll day, and still am/still am expecting a deferral.

But I guess we can hope that there are still acceptances coming tomorrow and this whole mail thing was just a WEIRD coincidence!

yeah...no one near me has heard anything...so I guess that can't be bad news...i would be freaking out if other kids in my school got accepted though, sorry lariss1234....noone else in my school applied though, maybe this will help my chances????

it def. will, especially if you go to a competitive high school and have good stats! I know of at least 12 people in my school who applied...totally not helping me. Last year Georgetown took 1/4 from my hs, but I can't see them taking 3/12. whyyyyyy is today a sunday?!

I called em two days ago, they said we can call on the 17th for a decision.

They better have a lot of people working the phones. :)

I don't know if I want to find out by phone though...

i dont know.. i think i'm going to wait for my mail first.. if i dont get anything then i'm gonna call. Of course this means my hole day tomorrow is going to be hell, since im on xmas break and have nothing to do. oh man. i'm looking forward to it.

I'm gonna wait till the mail comes Monday and if I STILL don't get a latter, I'm definitely calling.
It will definitely be weird for a stranger to tell me I got deferred though.
I'd probably scream "LIAR!" and slam the phone down haha

srm17--sounds exactlyyyy like what i'll be doing if i dont get mail!

yeah...i don;t want to call during school and get deferred....

Me neither. I know I'll be bummed all day long. And most of my friends cried about their deferrals; I definitely dont want to cry at school.

so i live in cleveland. and i didnt get my letter yesterday, but because of the bad weather today and cancelled flights and such, i have this feeling i wont be hearing tomorrow either. I'm not losing my mind, but gosh its annoying.

If I don't get it in the mail tomorrow I'm gonna call too... I had the number in my phone before but I deleted it to make sure I wouldn't call!

oh my god, i just thought of something. i talked to a friend who is a sophomore at gtown yesterday and he said they were forecasted to get a lot of snow and that they might be out of classes on monday. in that case... the admissions office would probably be closed... and we couldn't call in for our decisions.
[/quote]

That'd be quite a trick, since classes ended on Friday. Who's your friend at georgetown?

And no, admissions won't be closed.

They've absolutely earned the right to obsess a bit (or a lot!), and I don't believe that the connection you're making between whether they're obsessing over Georgetown and whether they understand that there are other schools out there actually exists.

The problem with obsessing is that you lose your perspective completely. Admissions officers here (like my old theology professor for Problem of God, who's crazy) spend at most 6 minutes on applications. Why would your ego depend so much on what some old dean thinks of you when he reads two of your essays in a couple minutes? Really?
